Czech incoming tourist numbers down 0.3 percent in Q1 |

Prague, July 19 (CTK) - Some 1.14 million foreign tourists visited the Czech Republic in the first quarter, a drop of 0.3 percent year-on-year, the Association of Czech Travel Agencies (ACCKA) said today.
The total number of Czech and foreign tourists at Czech accommodation facilities jumped to 2.4 million owing to an 11.4 percent increase in Czech tourist numbers, caused by good skiing conditions in winter.
Tomio Okamura, presidium member at the ACCKA, pointed out the first-quarter figures were affected by the fact that this year's Easter was only in April. At Easter, tourist numbers usually grow considerably.
The most foreign tourists arrived from Germany, followed by Great Britain and Italy. The number of British tourists fell by 14 percent year-on-year as their cheap tours by low-cost airlines now tend to target the Baltic states.
Prague was the most popular target for tourists, ahead of the Kralovehradecky region with its winter resorts. Tourist numbers in the Pardubicky region jumped by 62 percent year-on-year owing to the development of the Pardubice airport.
The World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) estimates international tourism to grow by 4.1 percent year-on-year this year.
The ACCKA expects tourism in the Czech Republic to add 4 percent to 6.6 million tourists, and income from tourism to rise 1.5 percent to CZK 110.3 billion.
