North of England We were very satisfied. We had wanted a cheap hotel as a base for sightseeing and cannot fault hotel Sofia. It is not luxurious but it is not claimed that it is. The room was cleaned daily and there were always clean towels and tea/coffee provided. Everything worked and we found the staff to be fine. The food was not a problem with lots to choose from including cereal and toast as well as sausages, rice etc as mentioned in other reviews. We had three meals in the restaurant in the cellar and enjoyed all of them. We felt it was good value for money. As for location it is very well situated close to the metro. We want to go back!

Melbourne I stayed in this hotel for 3nights with my girlfriend.
The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was excellent. Room was clean and spacious. Not right in the central part of the city, but the connection to the historical centre by suwbay was perfect. Less than 1 dollar for ticket.
Good place for stay (certainly value for money )

Brisbane We only stayed one night in The Sofia and found it very comfortable. The room was small but very clean ,warm and in an excellent location for seeing all the sights in Prague. We took part in a cruise on the Danube after that . We would reccommend The Sofia to anyone wanting good value for money

Sussex When we first arrived at the Hotel Sofia, the gentleman on reception appeared to do his best to create a hostile atmosphere. He spoke little to no English was rude and obnoxius.
We were given a room on the top floor (there is no lift), an exhausting experience, especially laden with large suitcases and no offer of assistance.
The Hotel is unbearably smokey, they even provide industrial sized ash-trays on every landing of each stairwell which appear to be used frequently.
When we finally made it to our room, someone walked out as we approached, cigarette in hand, having just used our toilet, she was another guest, a group of them liked to congregate in the public areas shouting and smoking, the hotel staff did little to prevent this, it felt more like a youth hostel.
The room had a putrid smell of excrement and damp, decor was
terrible and the bed had about 6 supporting in place, the rest had broken.
We managed to secure a better room, only by calling reception at all hours of the night. The second room was a little better but still very smelly.
Breakfast was OK, rather strange in that they offered Hot Dogs, rice, sweetcorn and doughnuts for breakfast. Don\'t expect any friendliness from staff, rather disapproving looks.
The Czech people seem to have a problem with personal hygeine which is evident in this Hotel. The smell of body odour can put you off your breakfast.
Local people living in the area seem to hang around reception talking to the Hotel staff, this is a little off putting, particularly as some of them seem a bit dodgy.
Also, if you are out for the evening, don\'t expect to be let in easily. You have to leave your key at reception. We had to stand on the doorstep ringing the buzzer and banging on the door simultaneously for almost 10 minutes on two occasions until they took notice, even though the Hotel staff were aware of our presece. We were then met with \"We are not obliged to open the door to you\"!!!!!
The only thing in it\'s favour is location, conveniently located within a 5 minute walk of Namest Miru metro station, convenient for all the cities attractions.

Swansea A party of 7 of us have just returned from The Sofia, for what we paid overall it was a good experience. The only problem is the stairs. If you are unfortunate to be allocated the 4th floor you have 90 odd steps to climb. My parents and aunt were up on the 4th (allover 65 years old) I went and asked if they could be moved and after a few little huffs and puffs from the receptionist they were moved to the 2nd floor.
The rooms were clean bright and airy and the maid was in every day with fresh towels and made the beds up.
The breakfast was fresh and plentiful. Yogurts vrown & white bread a toaster you can order freshly cooked eggs fried poached scrambled or in an omlette (with various fillings) there was bacon ham cheese beans dougnuts cake need I go on.
Ok it wasn\'t the 4 Seasons but there again we didn\'t pay £3000 (yes three THOUSAND) per night.
We had a most enjoyable stay, all I would say is it\'s not for disabled or people who cannot mange too many stairs.
