Altrincham, Cheshire I completely agree with the previous reviewer. First the good; The hotel itself was quirky and unusual. The rooms although small were clean, warm and well equipped. (Because of the shape of the building the rooms get slightly bigger as you move away from reception). The hotel is in a brilliant position for reaching most of the sights. The bad - The attitude of the staff on reception was poor - everything seemed too much efort for them. The dining room and bar were booked by Christmas parties each evening and if you wanted anything you were told to use room service (at a price). We arrived at 10-30 at night and had to go out of the hotel to find a meal. Luckily there were several restaurants locally. Even mid afternoon the staff were reluctant to provide a hot drink (it was -6 outside) and there are no drinks facilities in the rooms. When my friend had her money stolen they were very unhelpful and had to be asked several times before they told us where the police station was. (That\'s another story). Watch out for the pickpockets especially on the 18, 22 and 23 trams. We knew about them and even with bags under coats they managed to steal my friends purse. From the queue at the police station we were not the only one\'s. Prague was an experience I will repeat in a hurry.

Nuneaton First the good - this is a hotel situated ideally for the city centre of Prague. Our room was reasonable, very clean and well equipped. Prices were reasonable and breakfast was good.
On the Best Website they advertise a complimentary newspaper - this was not provided. They also say staff will assist with booking tickets for attractions and events - they will not - we were told to contact these ourselves.
Now the worst - we were in Prague from 2nd - 7th December for the Christmas Markets. We didn\'t always want to eat out after long days in the city. This hotel books out its restuarant and bar facilities completely to corporate / private dinners. This meand that residents have no bar area or restuarant as they do not have a seperate facility. This happened on 4 out of the 5 night we were there. When we complained they simply did not understand our annoyance that advertised facilities were withdrawn. they told us there were other restuarants in the area or we could use room service. Be aware of this if considering the Kampa

bristol, UK We,ve stayed at The Kampa twice now. The first time, they put us in a coverted broom cupboard on the top floor, next to the noisy lift motor. After the first night, we complained and they moved us to a better room.
Our second visit was even worse. When we tried to check in, they told us that they had overbooked their rooms, and they were moving us to a hotel in Wenceslas Square. This might have sounded great to someone on their first trip to Prague, but as we have been to Prague at least 10 times we know what its like. By day its full of tourists and traffic. At night, the drunks, stag parties, prostitutes and Roma gipsy pick-pockets take over. We chose the Kampa because of its quiet location, no way would we ever stay on Wenceslas Square.
After a twenty minute row with the receptionist, during which another couple were told that no room was available for them either, we had to wait for half an hour in the bar. After a further row with the manager, and having refused to leave the reception until we got a room, they relented and were given keys to a room.
This was a terrible start to our holiday, we will never return to The Kampa. As we were passing through the reception area in the morning, we overheard an elderly couple being told by the manager that there was no room for them either. They were most upset.
There seems to be systematic over-booking with this hotel, either through incompetence or worse. You might have a reservation for this hotel, but you may end up anywhere in Prague.
If you still consider staying here, the good points are, charming, quiet location, great brekfast, good location for Charles Bridge and some excellent bars and restaurants nearby.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania We stayed at the BW Kampa in August. The hotel is located ideally on/near the Kampa island in Prague\'s Little Quarter area. It\'s on a picturesque cobblestone side street, but very close to the main trolley stops. The hotel is decorated in a medieval theme, but doesn\'t remind you of a Renaissance faire.
The rooms are modest, but very clean and comfortable. We had two rooms...one with a king and the other with 2 twins and both were equally clean and comfortable. Breakfast in the morning was a nice buffet with eggs, bacon, sausage and assorted cheeses, breads, pastries and cereals. Help yourself and get full enough to get by with a light lunch.
Kampa island is connected to the street the hotel is on and is an ideal path to walk to Charles Bridge (about 10 minutes).
Now the bad part.................................
The weather was warm, so the window needed to be open. This meant that the bar downstairs (and across the cobblestone street) was very audible into the late night/early morning hours. VERY AUDIBLE. It got to a point that we had to choose between cool air coming into the room with the noise, or close the windows and deal with the quiet, warmer room (we chose the latter). The other side of the hotel (where the other room was) was a bit quieter.
So, our experience was with the noise being a real issue. However, if you are there during a time you keep the windows closed or you are on the other side of the hotel (away from the bar), you will be perfectly fine.
It\'s not a 4-star hotel, as it\'s stated, but a good 3-star hotel. The price reflects this.
If we were the type to go out drinking until the wee hours, the hotel could not have been more perfect (unless the breakfast buffet stayed open past 10am...haha).
The location, price, room and buffet were exactly what we hoped for. We will be back to Prague and we\'ll stay here again...except we\'ll go when the weather is a little cooler (and the windows can stay closed when we sleep!).
The tram/trolley from the train station was convenient enough to get to the hotel. We took the trams if we needed to go far. In fact, the trams are a good way to do a little sightseeing on the cheap.

Kansas City, Missouri I stayed at the best western kampa for 1 week in Sept. The location was perfect - close to everything but still in a quiet area. My room was small, but not unusually so for Europe. It did smell a bit musty and I was glad that it was perfect weather for leaving the window open. The breakfast buffet was awesome. Staff was cordial.
I had to laugh about a previous post, as I did encounter 1 fairly large spider, but it was nothing that a little hairspray couldn\'t take care of.
I have to disagree with the poster who says to try the mexican restaurant nearby -- we did out of curiosity more than anything to see how it compared to the mexican restaurants in the states, and it was overpriced and awful. Guess it depends on your point of reference.
I really enjoyed the italian restaurant down the street -- the best gnocchi I have ever had. Wonderful, simple chicken soup.
