Hotel Jasmin

England (Berkshire)

I stayed here with my friend at the end of July. Hotel is very basic but you get what you pay for.. Bed was comfy.. Beds made every morning.. Breakfast was simple breads, cheese and ham mainly.. Takes approx 30 mins to get bus (4 stops) then metro into town .. Three day travel pass works out to about £7.50 worth while it covers the metro, buses and trams.. For two girls getting back at night was quite scary due to it being out of town.. Staff do not speak much English.. Overall cheap long weekend..

I wish I had known that this hotel is far out of the centre that it takes about an hour to get into the centre - at least on weekends, when buses and metros do not run frequently. If you\'re only in Prague for a short time, as I was, I wouldn\'t recommend staying here, as 2 hours of travel time a day is a big chunk. If time isn\'t of the essence, bring a good book for the bus/metro.

If you\'re taking a bus from the airport or train station on your arrival in Prague, make sure you take good directions and a map (eg from MapQuest) with you, as the hotel\'s a bit hard to find if you\'re just going by street address alone - I lugged a heavy bag around for about 20 minutes after I got off the bus till I found it - with a proper map it would have taken about 5 minutes. Note that Hotel Jasmin has several buildings, and only one has the reception - don\'t bang on the wrong door!

My other complaint about this hotel is the smell in the rooms - a strong scent of perfume that a few hours of airing out did nothing to dissipate. This would only be an issue for people with sensitive noses and a perfume/scent sensitivity. My room was non-smoking, but the hallway just outside was furnished with several large ashtrays, and people did smoke in the hallways, as the smoke unpleasantly drifted in under the door - kind of defeated the purpose of a non-smoking room.

Other than the issue of location and smell, I found this hotel to be good value for money - clean, comfortable beds (if a bit on the hard side, but better than saggy), spacious, adequately furnished (table and chairs, bench for suitcase, wardrobe, bedside tables etc - very plain but servicable). OK breakfast buffet.sd

stayed at the jasmin hotel, skolnena, prague 13-15 july, hotel very clean but very basic, beds are rock hard, breakfast was fine(good selection), hotel description states swimming pool nearbye, the
chap behind reception didnt have a clue what we were talking about, reception staff not the most helpful (didnt want to open the door to garden so we could have a drink there, after a while and a bit of moaning on our part she decided to open it. hotel is too far out of town (30 min bus and tube), there are some bars nearbye (really cheap 3 pints under a pound) but i wouldnt like to be in one of them late at night, overall if you dont want a hotel near the attractions and cheap booze its ok(just)

Newcastle, England

We stayed at the Jasmin during our trip to prague & found it to be a good value budget type hotel. The area it is in is very quiet no noise problems from locals or traffic. The hotel is just the thing you need if you\'re only looking for somewhere to put your head down at night & have a good hearty breakfast in the morning. Although I prefer a good old full English breakfast, the food on offer was different & there was plenty of choice. From cereal to cold cuts of meat & different types of bread. I was having hot dogs for breakfast which felt a bit strange but enjoyable. The man on the desk is not the happiest bloke in the world but he will help you with problems if you ask him. The hotel is a little out of the way from Prague city itself but the bus & metros are second to none & you will have no problem getting there & it is unbelivably cheap. Prague itself is absolutely amazing. We were very lucky with the weather on our stay it was in the 70s. Plenty of places to eat & drink. The beer is excellent. Try Czech food & you will be pleasantly surpised. Plenty to see & you will walk for miles without realizing it. Enjoy your stay in Prague we certainly did.

Manchester

We have just arrived back from staying in the hotel jasmin... as we checked in the man was very rude and preferred sitting on the internet than comin to check us into our rooms. After eventually checking in we arrived at our room... very basic to say the least but spacious and clean.. beds literally felt like we were lying on bare wood. The two women who worked on reception were friendly and helpful even though their English wasnt great they still did their best in ensuring us how to get into the city..wish I could say the same about the other two men..who were purely arrogant and rude.and not to mention smelly!
Netherless the breakfasts were throughly enjoyable with a huge variety of fresh breads, meats, cheeses and juices which was a great way to start the day..as you will find you will do a ridiculous amount of walking..so wil need all the energy!!
on the whole the visit to prague was great, the city is beautiful and we were fortunate to have lovely weather. Would not go back to the Hotel Jasmin but is a good place if you are on a low budget.
