About: Karlovy Vary (Karlsbad) is the most famous Bohemian spa. It was named for the Bohemian King and German and Holy Roman emperor Charles (Karl) IV who allegedly found the springs in 1358 during a hunting expedition. In the 19th century, royalty came here from all over Europe for treatment. Among the rich and famous who visited Karlsbad are Goethe, Schiller, Beethoven, Chopin, and Karl Marx.
Twelve mineral springs with temperature reaching 42-72 degrees Celsius are currently used to cure the diseases of stomach, Bowels, liver and metabolism.
There are different possibilities to enjoy your night life, Casino Thermal, Pupp Casino Club, a large choice of discotheque and dance hall, gaming room, skittles, billiards, darts, restaurants pub"s and bar"s.
Cultural facility are also present, IFF (The Karlovy Vary IFF is the most important international film festival of Category A in Central and Eastern Europe and the only festival of Category A in the Czech Republic), cinema, concert hall, gallery, house of culture, library, archive, theatre.

The fame of Karlovy Vary has spread into the whole world thanks to its mineral springs. There are 12 healing springs in the spa. Their basic compositions are similar but they differ in temperature and the amount of carbon dioxide, and that is why their effects are different as well. The colder springs usually have a slightly purgative effect, while the warmer ones make the production of bile and stomach juices slower. The strongest is the Vridlo spring, rising from the depth of 2,000-3,000 metres. The temperature reaches 73° C. The temperature of the other springs is around 40° C.
