Hotel Lunik

UK

We stayed at the Lunik, as part of a budget break to prage early this year. The hotel was basic, but very clean, with free internet acces,a nd exceptionally helpful staff. Excellent value for money.

Chattanooga, Tennessee

We stayed at the Lunik two nights last week. Every good thing others have said about the hotel is true. The location is in a quiet neighborhood away from the loud tourist downton, but it is very easy to go anywhere by Prague\'s new subway system. A subway station is two blocks away. If you would prefer a tram ( which we did), the tram stops one block from the hotel. The hotel even sells tickets for the tram and subway. The hotel staff speaks English very well and is very helpful. For example, before our arrival by train in Prague from Brno, we called the hotel and were told not to pay a taxi more than 150 Czech Crowns for the service. When a taxi driver first quoted a fare of 500 Crowns, we told him that the hotel had told us that the proper fare was 150 Crowns to go from the train station to the hotel. Likewise, on the night before our departure, we asked if the hotel could arrange for a taxi to pick us up at 8:15 and take us to the airport. The taxi was at the hotel exactly on time, and we paid a very reasonable price, set by the hotel, for the trip.
The rooms are small, but immaculate. All of the bathroom fixtures were sparkling new and every wall in the hotel had fresh paint. The breakfast was great. The other guests were mainly middle aged and pleasant.
We will stay at the Lunik every time we are in Prague in the future.

Boston

This hotel is in a great location - right by Wenceslas Sq. It was easy to find and the staff spoke decent English. The price was good, although the rooms were a bit drab. The breakfast was good - lots of options and the bar is very small, but cozy.
I didn\'t have a problem with this hotel until I tried to leave. When I tried to check out they told me I had \"made a fire\" in my room. I\'m a non-smoker and didn\'t even have the means to start a fire, so this was a bit of a shock to me. Turns out, there was a cigarette burn in the rug. They tried to charge me about $100 for it. Well, I let them go through my luggage to check for lighters/cigarettes/etc. When they came up with nothing, they decided to charge me $5. I gave them $5 so that I could get out of there and make my train, but I left on a negative note.
I had a great time until I tried to leave, but out of all the staff, my issue was with only 2 people. What can you do I suppose...
I personally wouldn\'t stay here again. I would suggest taking note of any problems with your room when you arrive.

Louise

Me and my husband just got back from a 4 night stay at the Hotel Lunik. I found it quite by accident after failing to book a number of hotels as they were already full. Got a great deal on hotel.club (i think it was called) and thought why not...even though I really wasn\'t expecting much. Our frinds were staying round the corner in the gorgeous 5 star Le Palais and I was sure Id never want to leave THEIR room !!!! Instead(gorgeous though theirs was) I fell a little bit in love with the Lunik.
And you know I don\'t really know why ???? it was very basic...humble simple...all those things. very cramped shower...twin beds pushed together...small room.....and basic continental breakfast.
HOWEVER, it really does have a certain charm. A warmth !!!!! and in snow and below freezing temps thats quite a skill.
But really ...the staff were just so sweet and friendly, the location couldn\'t be beat. As we arrived in our shuttle bus my heart dropped as we stopped to drop passengers off at the hotels in old town and then drove towards ours...and graffiti walls replaced the historic buildings. but that hotels location proved to be not only very safe but so convenient for the metro and tram stops that can get you all over Prague in the blink of an eye.
The club (and late night vegetarian restaurant) Radost Fx is practically your neighbour and everything is so close at hand.
Yes our room was small but the beds were against the window which had a huge(very warm) radiator. It was cosy...and the view was just out onto the street but as we experienced snow during our stay I would just lay in bed at night watching it fall.
....one other comment. There was a sign up warning of possible noise and apologizing as they were in the middle of reconstruction.....I saw the workmen but didn\'t hear a peep,so thank you Lunik. well done.
I have stayed in more expensive hotels without having such a nice experience
Louise
