Lincolnshire The Waldstein was in an excellent location just around the corner from Charles Bridge and within easy walking distance to all the main attractions. We paid 35 pounds for our room including breakfast for 2 of us, this was booked with Easyjet hotels.
The room we had was huge with a separate \'kitchen\' area. It was extremely clean, had a mini bar and tv. the only down side was the noise from building work that was going on next door. Breakfast was very good and included hot food, cereals, fruit, cakes, bread, cheese etc. All in all a very good hotel, it was just a shame about the noise!!

seattle wa We had 2 rooms - both pretty. One large, one quite small. Nice fresh linens, good breakfast in the \"cave.\" Everything sparkling clean. Good location. I booked the first 4 nights on line through ABA. When we took one more night, booked with the hotel itself, I was quite surprised at how much less they charged than ABA. And that was for the larger room. If you can\'t find Waldstein through Google, (I couldn\'t) but want to stay there, I\'d suggest calling the hotel directly for rates.

York I can\'t really rate our visit to the Waldstein, as like many other people we got bumped. Due to technical difficulties. This even happened after I rang two weeks in advance to check they had my booking, due to reading other negative experiences. The taxi they ordered for us was the worst i\'ve ever been in - bald tyre, smelt of dogs, electrical wires showing...but anyway - there was a happy ending! The hotel we were moved to was beautiful and in a better location - the Verona House was brilliant - 30 seconds around the corner from the Charles Bridge - well recommended to anyone!

Orange County, CA After reading the reviews and forums we selected the Waldstein on advice from a friend that had stayed there. We booked about 8 weeks in advance and figured with a Tuesday arrival there would be a minimal chance of overbooking. Upon arrival in early afternoon we waited in the hall outside of reception alongside the cleaning supplies and garbage bags left by the cleaning staff, while another couple checked in. Upon entry to the reception area we were informed we were being transferred to another hotel due to all of the construction causing dirt and noise. We were told it was a Four Star hotel, possibly nicer. We were actually relieved for our first impression was not positive. Our reward for the transfer was a voucher for dinner at a local eatery. While waiting forever for the cab they summoned, my wife used the rest room near reception. It was dirty with no towels for drying of hands.
We were sent to the Trinidad where the receptionist was not very pleasant nor forthcoming with info on the rates compared to the Waldstein. We did receive the room most prominently displayed in literature but it had only a tub with a handheld shower. Our experience there did prove to be pleasurable primarily due to the location and a surprising find, the small restaurant in the lower level. The complimentary breakfast was satisfying although minimal in selection. We had dinner there a couple of times and found the food very good, reasonably priced, and the service excellent.
We stopped at the Waldstein one day to verify we would pay only the rate at which we reserved. A different receptionist indicated they would take care of everything for \"we overbook all the time and send people to other hotels.\"
In our opinion there are far too many hotels in Prague for anyone to roll the dice on the Waldstein. Just a book another instead of wasting half of a day, or night, transferring anyway.
In closing, the restaurant for which they supplied the voucher was near the top of hill that required mountain goat ability to reach. The food was by far the worst we had during our two weeks in Europe. To a degree, inedible. Add in the unbearable heat in the room and the smoke from the couple they sat next to us and you can begin to imagine the dining experience.
