Hotel Mucha

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

To all travellers:

I stayed at the hotel Mucha (pronounced Mooka) from August 4/04 for 7 days.

The hotel is fantastic -- thanks to Peter, Tomas, Dana and all for their help in making my first trip to Europe and Prague easy with their knowlede of the city and friendly service. Every one speaks English very well. Breakfast is served in a nice room with great selections of food.

The hotel and the room I was in was air conditioned and on the sixth floor. There is noise in the daytime due to construction in the area but I was out until late each night exploring the city.

The best way to get around is by foot though the option of using the efficient subway system of Prague is available using the Florenc station to anywhere in the city. I bought a 7 day pass for $250 CZK (korunys) and this is sufficient. The city centre is only about 15 minutes by foot and worth the walk.

In Prague, you need to look forward, up, and back to enjoy the great architecture. Food is cheap and shopping is easy to do (taxes included).

Overall, I would return to the Mucha -- it is great hotel at a great rate.

Best,
Joel

Noise is definitely the big down side with this hotel. Building works next to the hotel provided a \'banging\' wake up call and the street noise from the front of the hotel was quite remarkable considering it was a fairly quiet street!!

Location wise it was a good 15 min walk to the centre of the old town but it was right next door to the underground station.

The hotel itself was nice. The room was a good size and well equipped with nice bathroom. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate with a good (and interesting!) choice. I had read that the bar offered a huge range of cocktails ... but it didn\'t! As hotel mini bars go, the prices were fairly reasonable (although cheaper to use the supermarket next door!!).

Staff in the main were friendly although it did take some time to get used to the abrasive Czech nature.

My partner and I stayed here from 12th to 16th July. After a personal recommendation and reading several favourable reviews we were disappointed with the hotel and it\'s location . At the time work was being carried out in the adjacent building and the noise was terrible from 7.30am onwards . The hotel was full and although the receptionist was apologetic he could not move us . As for the rooms-well ours was dark and dingy . The furniture was more old than antique and frankly a refurb would have been in order . The area is also not the best-I would definitely visit Prague again as it is beautiful , but would stay more centrally next time .
In summary - a gorgeous city , but generally hotels are expensive for what you get .

The hotel itself is lovely, though there is no air conditioning so the room can be warm, especially at night

The hotel is located in an area near a metro station, and you can easily hear the trains which seem to run all night... also, the area around the hotel is quite run down, half demolished buildings, and a few vagrants.

San Francisco, CA

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights in early July. The staff was very helpful and nice, and the Internet in the lobby convenient and a great addition! My single room was furnished with antiques AND had a GREAT bathtub, which was fantastic after a day of walking! I took the bus then metro to the hotel which was fine but next time would take a taxi which is not too expensive (was quoted 700 KR at airport) to avoid the hassle. The hotel location was great, very close to Florenc metro, but not a lot of restaurants nearby. The Bohemia Bagel in old town square was good and had a fantastic meal at Kampa Park across the river.
