Hotel Mucha

Los Angeles

I will agree with the other reviewers that this is not quite a four-star hotel, but by European standards I\'d give it a three. My single room was much larger than I\'ve had in other European cities. The bathroom was spacious, with a large tub and hand-held shower (a little unwieldy). The hotel is half a block from a metro station, and within easy walking distance of Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square. I did not find the neighborhood or its inhabitants threatening or frightening in any way, and I was a woman alone. The reception staff, with the exception of one male in the early morning, was pleasant and helpful with booking tours, giving directions, etc. While it\'s true that there was only one English-language TV station (CNN), this is not an English speaking country. I would stay at the Mucha again. I thought it was a great value for a budget-priced hotel.

belfast, northern ireland

This is not a four star hotel... it\'s closer to a two star. We had a deluxe room which was a good size but in truth that\'s really where any link to \"deluxe\" ends. The bed was two sinlges pushed together which was dissapointing as we had booked a double. The bath/shower was good but if you have mobility problems be careful as it\'s a big step out from the bath itself.

Breakfast was ok with a good basic selection. The breakfast room itself is nice. We didn\'t eat in the hotel at any other stage. I\'m not a TV person on holidays but the selection available was poor with too many x-rated chanels which did not seem to be blocked.

Location is good, only a short walk form the Old Town with a metro station only a two minute walk. Some good shoe shops in the area and Cafe Imperial is only down the road.... a must for the decor.

If you get it at the right price it might be worth considering if budget is your main driver. While we had a great time in Prague, we won\'t be heading to the Hotel Mucha on any return visit.

How this hotel can describe itself as 4 star is beyond me. Ok, our room was spacious and the bathroom modern, but the bed was a joke.......paper thin mattress and one lumpy pillow each and no extra pillows. The television service was awful. Not that we came to Prague to watch tv but only one english speaking channel and that was American CNN news channel. Breakfast on our first morning was ordinary as we arrived about 10.00, not much choice left. Much better on the second morning as we were earlier.
Staff were morose, other than a guy who took our cases to our rooms. He was very helpful, but one particular chap on reception was miserable and unhelpful. The area where the hotel is is fine for the metro and buses but quite threatening to walk around. Lots of tramps and young boys with hoods.
If I return to Prague, I\'ll definitely give this place a miss.

We agree with all Bigged of Manchester said about this hotel.
We also checked the reviews after we had booked and were disappointed by the bad reviews somme people had written.
We couldn\'t belief that Thomas Cook would include such a bad hotel in their brochure. On arrival all our fears vanished. The bedroom was spacious and clean, the bathroom was modern with underflorr heating and abundant hot water. The breakfasts were plentiful with a choise of hot and cold items. We found the staff friendly and helpful. The trams and metro at Florenc were only a couple of minutes away. A great way of getting around. We bought a 7 day ticket for trams, bus and metro for Kc280 each which was very good value. We found two very good restaurants: one opposite the hotel; another \'The Gate\' across the road from the hotel and under the arch. Thee restaurant in the hotel was also good.

Manchester

Just got back from the Hotel Mucha. After booking, we checked the reviews and our heart sank at the poor ones. I can\'t believe the doom merchants had been to the same hotel. The hotel was very good. The room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The bathroom was very clean and modern. The breakfasts were more than adequate and we found the staff to be extremely helpful. The hotel was within easy walking distance of the main attractions in the city centre, but if you are not walkers then the trams were frequent. A good way of getting around is to buy a tram, bus and underground ticket. We bought a 3-day ticket at the airport for 220Kc each. Then, to get to Mucha, jump on the 119 bus outside the airport which terminates at Dejvicka underground station. Jump on the train going to Depo Hostivar (Green line \'A\') and get off at Mustek. Transfer to the yellow line \'B\' and get on a train going to Cerny Most. Get off at Florenc. Come out of the station and turn right on to Sokolovska. The hotel is a short way down the road. About 45 minutes from airport to the hotel. For an inexpensive and good Czech meal, about 5 mins away turn right out of the hotel, cross the road and go to the Restaurant Mlyn (windmill).
