Hotel Denisa

Monterrey

Technical Problem?. They will not keep your reservation…….

Denisa Hotel will not keep you reservation if they over sale the rooms. That was my experience during my stay at this hotel. They argue that they have my reservation but for technical problems they will not be able to give me a room (they did not provide further information about technical problems) maybe… they technically over sale the rooms……

That was not the issue; we did not have another choice so we took the other hotel that they recommend with the same quality, great location, etc, etc. The surprise was the new hotel recommended by them…….horrible. I guess that they did not care to save some money with the new hotel assignation.

If you are planning to stay at this hotel just be aware of this situation. It is very upset to stay in a beautiful city and having problems during your stay at the hotel.

Michigan

My girlfriend and I stayed here 5 nights on our first trip to Prague. Of course our experience is thus limited, but this was a great hotel and we would unquestionably stay here again.
The location is great: easy access to pubic transport hub (Prague rocks in this category--get a 3 or 7 day pass!) close to the line to the ariport, easy walking to the castle (15 min), but OUT of the tourist throngs. Everyhting you need (grocery, restaurants, laundry, pharmacy etc) is right around the block and you feel you are surrounded by everyday Czechs.

The room was clean, spacious and quiet. Nice firm bed. The breakfast was over the top really. Eggs 3 ways. Breads, rolls, muffins. Granolas, yogurts, fruits. Cheeses, ham, sausages. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions. Frankfurters, green beans and corn. I am not kidding. Excellent and plentiful coffee. Tea too but I am not a tea-type. Fill up!!!

And the staff are great. Helpful 24/7. Free safes and storage lockers. They even let us leave bags there for 3 days after we left.

We wil stay here the next time we visit Prague (go to Vryeshad)

Auckland, New Zealand

We stayed four nights in June- it was hot -a fan would have been great!
But the staff were lovely and very helpful - their recomendations for eating out were great. The location was handy - we managed with public transport fine.
Breakfast was excellent.

You get what you pay for and this was good value.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a four-night stay at the hotel Denisa in Prague and were very pleased.

Hotel:
Good points:
- Small and sweet with about 49 rooms.
- Reception 24/7
- Safety deposit boxes available
- Lift
- Lockers to use free of charge when you check out and need to leave baggage
- Breakfast plentiful and tasty - cakes, pastries, toast, yoghurts, cereal, fruit, cheeses, meats, sausage, beans (one one occasion!), juice, eggs (scrambled or fried on request)
- No \'curfew\'
- Nice bathroom with powerful shower
- Fridge
- Towels and bedding changed daily
- Toiletries supplied in bathroom

Bad points:
- Very hot (July) and no air con or fans available
- Noisy fridge
- Bathroom flooded when taking a shower

Location
- Fantastic, right next to Dejvika metro stop on line A, which is the main one you will need for getting around Prague
- Near to airport bus stop, no need to pay for an expensive taxi from the airport, the bus costs about 50p and takes you to just 5 mins away
- Supermarket, chemist, cafes etc right near by (very cheap)
- Husa restaurant round the corner from hotel serves big portions of delicious food and nice cocktails and adventurous beers! Very cheap.

Prague itself - some of our top must-see\'s
- Castle - absolutely beautiful. Costs 350k but well worth it as it will take a whole day to see, with the guards, palace, cathedral, galleries, gardens, dungeons, golden mile.
- Little Quarter - St Nicholas Church/Tower, take the Nerova street up to the castle as it is hilly but very pretty!
- Observation tower - mini eiffel tower has great views but be aware that the Funicular railway up the hill is closed for repairs until September 1st 2006 and it is a very difficult walk up to the top.
- Mirror maze - very short but the funny mirrors at the end are very amusing
- Charles Bridge - rub the gold man on the statue for luck
- Astronomical Clock - in old town square
- Municipal hall - amazing building
- Jewish quarter - posh shops, Jewish museum and synagogues very beautiful, decorative art museum

Restaurants
- U Prince: amazing Czech food - pork with potato dumplings and cabbage is one of the nicest meals I have ever tasted. Live music by very charming folk band provides a great atmosphere.
- Red, Hot and Blues - yummy mexican food, alternative to Cantina mexican which gets very busy but just as nice and has a live blues band which played blues brothers and lots of great fun music.
- Les Moules - quite pricey but nice restaurant in the Jewish Quarter - portions of mussels absolutely huge and very tasty with fries, bread etc washed down with speciality beers
- Boulevard Crocodile - quick place to grab a baguette
- Bohemia Bagel - very tasty lunchtime options

All in all, had a superb time!

Alexandria, VA

You get what you pay for at the Denisa. We stayed for three nights, paying 80 euros a night. Situated on the edge of the city at the end of one of Prague\'s subway lines, there is excellent transit service to the central city using trams, subway, or buses. In fact, at the subway station, there is stop for the #119 bus that travels to the airport (20 minutes).

Breakfast was less than adequate and the staff was helpful but at times seemed a little officious. For example, we were asked to provide our original booking statement (which was pre-paid using an online travel service) when we initially arrived and again when we checked-in, as the room was being cleaned when we arrived. It seemed strange that we needed to produce the booking statement twice, especially since it was the same receptionist making the requests.

A grocery store is located nearby, which offers a cheaper alternative to a restaurant or cafe.

If you\'re looking for glamour, don\'t stay here. If you\'re looking for a cheaper hotel, go farther out from the central city. If you\'re looking for a hotel with good access to the city, this may be the place for you.
