Hotel Neruda

Italy

When we entered our room, the room smelled and our sheets had hair and dirt all over them. There wasn\'t even pillow cases on our pillows. Our sink was filled with some dirty water and it would not drain. The floor was also dirty and had also no been vacuumed. We complained and what appeared to be the entire staff laughed as if it were hilarious. They only changed our pillow cases and left us with dirty sheets. The sink never drained. We told them about it through our 3 night stay and would always \"It\'s okay\".
The staff treated us very poorly. They demanded we pay 40 Euro for ride to the airport, but the man never showed up and we had to take the bus. We never received our money back.
It\'s such a shame because our trip could have been a nice experience.

First they didnt have the reservation and told me it would be 50% more. THis was resolved the next day which was stressful. The room was OK. Location actually was not optimal. I would stay on the other side of Charles Bridge next visit - closer to everything. When we left we noticed that gas had been siphoned out of the tank! They paid for the missing gas but I think this is unacceptable (to not trust the hotel) They didnt put up much of a fight so perhaps this happens often. TAKE a picture of your gas gage and milage with a camera or cell phone (or show someone the gas gauge on staff). For the money (100 E) it was fine. Parking was $45 a day - what a rip off.

London

Like many other people who have left reviews we booked the hotel after seeing it on Mr & Mrs Smith. We got a good deal with the rate (198 Euros for 2 nights including breakfast) and knew that it was reasonably central. I was aware that there were some ongoing building works after reading the trip advisor reviews but my boyfriend persuaded me to keep the booking as it was a good deal.

The reception was unmanned when we arrived and we waited for 10 minutes for someone to appear, who finally did without apology. We had asked for a room overlooking the cobbled streets up to the castle but were instead given the TINIEST room ever (this is room 14) it overlooks an internal passage way and is so small you can\'t walk round the end of the bed without opening the curtains with your backside. However, it was clean and the bed was comfy and the shower was nice and powerful.

The buliding work did start really early (7.30am on a Saturday) but it wasn\'t enough to stop us going back to sleep. The breakfast was a great buffet and the waitress was a sweetie.

On balance, I\'m not sure if i\'d go back because the room was so small and I\'m not sure you could guarantee they\'d give you a better room. It\'s a great location and the food is of a high standard. It\'s worth risking for a cheap deal but don\'t pay over 100 euros per night or you\'ll be dissapointed.

Paris

Hotel Neruda is a very cosy hotel where you feel immediatly at home: warm , friendly and helpful welcoming, very comfortable and convenient rooms with very modern and tasteful design, delicious breakfast with high quality food .... An advise: when you come back, in the late afternoon exhausted by a walking day discovering the magic city of Praha , have a hot chocolate with whipped cream served in the bar..... your feet will recover at once and you\'ll feel better in a minute! It\'s really a MUST !

London/Cardiff

My wife and I booked a 4 day stay in cold January for a little r&r. We really looked forward to this hotel after it was recommended by a well know boutique hotel website (mr&mrs smith). However this is what we thought:
DESIGN: nice foyer and breakfast room but rooms smallish and basic, brown decor and a little worn. Only 2 rooms have baths.
LOCATION: good, in the quaint part of the city just across from Charles Bridge. A 20 minute stroll to the Old Square and fashionable Pariska street. TIP - walk down the hill to ctach a cab otherwise they go round a 1 way system and double your bill!
SERVICE: A REAL LET DOWN. The hotel is expanding and we were put in a room other than I booked. We asked for our room (16-thought to be one of the best) and the receptionist moved us. However she failed to mention that we would hear ALL THE BANGING from the adjacent construction. We asked what time they would start the next morning - 9am she said - they started at 6.30am!! We moved into a quieter (but smaller) room but there was never any apology from the manager or receptionist. They also had pretty poor knowledge of the local area.
FOOD: pretty good. No complaints.
CONCLUSION: would not go back because of the inconsiderate service. We are seasoned travelers and expect high standards, especially after traveling in Asia where the hospitality is so much more efficient and amenable.
