Hubby and I stayed in this hotel in July for 2 nights.
We arranged a a taxi pick up from the airport with the hotel. Everything went very well. The front desk guy was nice.
We received a nice room with view of the street, but it was quiet. The area isn\'t very noisy.
The bed was good to sleep on, the bathroom was absolutelly huge and the bathtub as well.
The breakfast in the morning was wonderful.
The only thing that was annoying was that even though we paid for breakfast for both mornings, we had to leave really early (before breakfast time) to Vienna and we told that at the front desk when we were arranging a taxi transportation again and still they didn\'t even make us a sandwich in the morning of departure as they do in some other hotels with less stars.
Another thing was the distance and walking up hill to the hotel after a whole day of sightseeing.
But otherwise it was ok. The breakfast was the nicest thing of all.

his is a great hotel for a visit to prague, with the following notations.
1. The location is great and yes its a little climb to get back at the end of the day, but you know you need the walk.
2. The internet in the lobby is a rip off so avoid if you can, there are other places much cheaper.
3. Call a TAXI (AAA) dont use their service again they will hit you hard.
4. The breakfast is NOT hot buffet as advertised, still ok, but its just bread and cereal, (Not that that is the end of the world, but you should take note)
5. The rate is good, and thatsone of the biggest selling point for me.
6. The hotel is very , very clean, that is very important to me also.
All in all it was good, and I dont mean to sound too harsh on the tendency to overchargek, I think this is a prague thing, we also got hit at the nearby pizza place, (the Water cost more than the pizza)
I would stay here again, but I am a little more wiser, you need to have your wits about you in prague.

We stayed at U Zlata Hvezda for 3 nights for our honeymoon and were not disappointed. After reading other reviews I requested a suite on an upper floor (3rd) and we were really happy with our choice. We had lovely views down the hill and over the city, and were in a nice, quiet location. The room was massive, we had a lounge room with TV, fridge and safe, loads of cupboard and shelf space, big bedroom with TV and TWO bathrooms! One standard bathroom with bath and bidet and one shower room with separate toilet- great for his n\' hers! Only downside was that the bed was actually two beds pushed together rather than being one bed. The temperature was around 0-5 degrees every day while we were there and I was relieved to find the rooms very well heated. Breakfast was a typically continental buffet, which we enjoyed very much. The building was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The hotel is at the top of quite a large hill, older and unfit people would probably struggle a bit, and it it is, admittedly, a bit offputting after a hard day\'s sightseeing. However, it\'s a lovely walk with interesting buildings and it was totally worthwhile to be in a quiet district after seeing all the buck\'s and hen\'s parties arriving in the city centre each night. And you couldn\'t be better placed for visiting the castle. A tip - we were in Prague for 4 days and it was probably half a day to a day too long. We would recommend a day trip somewhere if you are there for more than 3 days

Here is what transpired upon my arrival to the Golden Star:
\"Hi, I\'m x, and we have a reservation.\"
\"Ahh yes Mr. x, we had a couple families decide to stay longer and now the hotel is oversold. We\'ve moved you to another location. Your cab is waiting outside. He won\'t charge you for the ride. It\'s not my fault.\"
\"Well, may we please speak with manager or reservations clerk? I received confirmation from both of them that our rooms would be available. I wrote for confirmation because I didn\'t want to arrive after 20 hours of travelling and not have my room.\"
\"No, they are off til Tuesday. There is no manager here. It\'s not my fault. Just go to the other hotel....you\'ll like it better. Don\'t worry, its the same price.\"
\"But we want a room here. My family is in the hotel across the street. Its not suitable to move us across town. It will cost us an arm and a leg in taxi fares\"
\"Its not my fault. Your cab is waiting.\"
End.
To this day, I have yet to receive an apology or even an acknowledgement that they royally screwed up. This hotel is wonderfully located, but the management are liars. Book at your own risk.
