Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

Just back from a stay at the Zlata Hvezda. It is a wonderful hotel in a wonderful location. It took us no more than ten minutes to walk down to the Charles Bridge and all the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Although up hill on the return, it isn\'t that steep and it\'s well worth the climb for the excellent views out over the city.

The hotels location is adjacent to Prague castle and St Vitus cathedral (2 minutes walk). The hotel itself is great, the staff very friendly and helpful and the rooms clean, well furnished and most importantly this summer, air conditioned - it is well worth requesting, in advance of your stay, an upper floor room at the front of the building - the views across the city are stunning.

There are loads of reasonably priced places to eat in the immediate vicinity of the hotel and of course you have the option of dining at the hotel itself.

This area was great to stay in as it was fairly quiet from around 10.30pm, even at the weekend, but close enough to be able to walk to all the main attractions (Charles Bridge, 10mins - Old Town Square, 20mins - Wenceslas Square, 25mins) all great places for people watching especially at night.

We stayed here in July 2002. The location is fantastic, in one of the quieter parts of the city, right by the castle, but only 15 mins walk from the Charles Bridge. The staff were helpful and welcoming, there was a good cold buffet for breakfast with an array of fruit, apple strudel, meats, cheeses etc. and the view over the city (we were lucky enough to be on the top floor) was breathtaking. Our room was simply furnished, but very clean with parquet floor and and a high standard of bathroom. Highly recommended.
