Sydney We stayed at the Grand Praha for 4 nights during December - wonderful time to be in Prague due to the Xmas Markets. What a gorgeous city and a gorgeous hotel! You won’t find any complaints here!
You cannot get a better location or hotel in my opinion in Prague than this one. My husband and I are seasoned travellers – We are early 30’s, have stayed in places anywhere from your lower end of the scale to your absolute upper – I am fussy where we stay but we are also realistic in the type of accommodation we choose. This hotel did NOT disappoint at all!
Location - Smack bang in the middle of the Old Town (where you want to be staying - location, location, location!). I counted the steps to the Astronomical Tower - under 40 steps from the outside of the hotel to the Clock. Amazing!
Xmas Markets is stunning - again right outside your hotel. Truly a beautiful time to be in Prague. Go crazy with the Czech delights! It\'s a dieters hell but oh so worth it!
Breakfast was fantastic - a bit of everything for everyone. Great start to the day!
Yes - there are a lot of stairs but get over it! This is Europe - there are stairs everywhere and really - they are not bad at all. Do your research prior to going to this hotel if mobility or climbing stairs is an issue – there is a lift though so it’s not a major problem.
Rooms are lovely - decorated beautifully in antique bohemian style! Stunning! Comfy beds, great mattresses. Beautiful bathrooms. Has everything!
Try to get a room that is not fronting the square though - if you suffer from jetlag like I do then you will find it hard to sleep as there is a lot of noise from outside (Room 219 I think) however this is a tourist hotel so noise is expected. My husband had no problem at all nodding off! However, I politely asked if there were any alternatives (we had crossed 3 time zones in a matter of days so I really wanted a bit of sleep) and they moved us with no fuss at all - we had the room up the stairs above 219 and wow - for the same price it was gorgeous and bigger as well. More private too!
Explore the restaurants outside the Square if possible - more in tune with the locals, cheaper and you really get to experience the proper Czech way of life - including lots of cig smoke during dinner! Again, you are in Europe - get over it.
No one should complain about this hotel - it\'s fantastic, central and close to everything. I am a realistic traveller and write realistic reviews! You will not be disappointed staying here.

Cleveland, OH Just got back from a Czech business trip. I made some last minute reservations at this hotel because it was on the square. I got a great rate and a great room. The hotel is clean and the people are super friendly. This hotel is in the heart of Prague. A wonderful place for a vacation headquarter.

inverness scotland Lets start by saying that I have never written a review before.... but after having stayed here for 4 nights, I felt compelled to let others know about our exeriences, both good and bad!
Good points... Lovely hotel right in the centre of OLD TOWN SQUARE.... very clean rooms, good breakfasts, attentive staff and we had a good time in Prague.
Bad points.... we booked the airport transfers through the hotel, and although we were picked up both ways by nice people, the car that took us in to the hotel was old, and smelt of stale tobacco. On our return to the airport, we were collected by a car which had barely enough space in the boot due to the fact it was full of junk. Also the driver had his partner with him... It would have been a squeeze if there were more than 2 of us. When we arrived at the hotel, we were checked in efficiently, and given a discount card. This card works in restaurants and bars related to the hotel WHICH CHARGE MORE THAN DOUBLE WHAT YOU WILL PAY NEARBY. The 10 - 20% discount isnt worth it. This hotel is not suitable for any travellers who have any access problems. We had a bit of a treck to get to our room... up 4 steps, round, then up 14 steps, round and down 2 more... along a corridor, UP 20 steep steps, along another corridor... by this time we were both tired! down 2 steps, up 2 steps, along other corridor, up 2 more, round, then down another 15 steps, phew, we needed our bed by the time we got to it! The room was particularly noisy, facing the back alley, lots of slamming doors and bins etc, I think we were above kitchens.
Overall, a nice clean hotel with some problems, but what do you expect in the centre of the old town? Best advice is walk a couple of blocks away from the hotel towards the new town, where prices of food and drink are better.

Newtownards, United Kingdom stayed here for 2 nites in november, after reading fellow reports on the hotel.i was\'nt disappointed. the reception was hard to find!, in past a sweet shop, up 1st floor. there is a glass lift, i stayed in room 211, with a view of the clock. crowds gather below window on the hour for a not very exciting appearance of the 12 apostles.this was amusing. room was large, wth a spaceous hall way. bathroom has sink, seperate power shower with loo, so a room each for him and her to get ready. felt like an apartment. safe in wardrobe, minibar is dear, so buy beer in shop and use the fridge! tv has only cnn news for english speakers, no satellite tv! no coffee either, porn channel, hustler had no sound!!!!!!!. lovely room, just spoiled by no english tv or coffee. good heat in room/hotel. breakfast mainly continental except for eggs and frankfurter. overall im v happy as she was happy.
