Grand Hotel Praha

Wrexham, North Wales

This hotel is as central as it gets. It was my 40th Birthday weekend and 20 friends stayed here and had the best time. In such a beautifual city we needed to be centrally based and where it was happening. It was perfect. We all had rooms with a view of the old square and the famous astronomical clock and yes whilst it does chime on the hour every hour it is a wonderful sight to live with and well worth putting up with for a weekend. We had the presidential suite in the hotel which was beautiful and very spacious, even had its own sauna!! Well worth spoiling yourself , believe me its wonderful here. All the bedrooms where slightly different sizes but very comfortably and appealing. I can\'t wait to return to Prague and would not consider staying anywhere else.

Brisbane

My husband and I had a short stay at this hotel in September.
The hotel surpassed our expectations in every way. We booked on the internet without any recommendations and couldn\'t believe our luck when we arrived. Set in the centre of the beautiful old town square and looking right at the astronomical clock. Prague is a beautiful city but we were reluctant to leave our hotel each day as we felt like royalty in our gorgeous room. It was very spacious, clean and very well appointed with 2 sets of beautiful windows overlooking the square and straight at the clock. The beautiful timber floor and window surrounds and marble benchtops were luxurious and bed and linen were also delightful. The room felt more like a suite than the standard double room with view that we\'d booked. If you book this hotel be sure to book a view, as it would be a crime to be here without the magnificent view. The staff were extremely helpful, everyone spoke engish and nothing was too much trouble. One word of advice though, be sure to tip the handsome young man who takes your bags to your room.!!!!

Just got back from 3 nights at the Grand Hotel Praha. We had a lovely big room (213) with a view of the Astronomical Clock out of one window and the Tyn church out of the other. Enormous comfy bed. Everything was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is great - fruit, cereal, muffins etc, bacon, sausages, eggs - fried, scrambled or boiled, ham or cheese croissants...we couldn\'t think of more you could want, although we noticed someone had brought their own rice krispies! The location is ideal and has a great atmosphere. The only slight - and it is slight - drawback is there is a bit of noise from the chairs scraping on the wooden floor of the cafe outside. Having said that, the cafe is a great place for coffee and a cake after your evening meal. As for restaurants, we enjoyed the 7 Angels - live gypsy music - and had excellent steaks at Metamorphis. Service was excellent in both restaurants, wine was a bit pricey in 7 Angels. We booked through A-Prague.com - they\'re very helpful, arranged transfers and everything.

Perrysburg, Ohio

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Praha for six nights (18 Aug through 24 Aug) and loved everything about this place. The decor is elegant yet understated, with lots of gleaming woods, green marble and brass fittings. The service is superb and the location can’t be beat. The staff is very friendly and attentive to your every request, and they also speak very good English. Our room (211) was huge and consisted of a very large bedroom/sitting area, a large separate hallway/dressing area with two big beautiful armoires for clothing storage, and two separate bathrooms...one with a tub and sink and the other with a large shower, toilet and bidet. Everything was immaculate and spotlessly clean. Even though we were right on the square, noise was not a problem. Simply closing the windows at night cut out everything except the muted sound of the clock. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and included lots of hot foods such as bacon, eggs and sausages, plus fresh fruits, cereals, pastries, cold meats, cheeses and tons of other things too numerous to list. We\'ve tried to think of something negative about this hotel but can’t come up with a single thing. It\'s an extremely lovely place to stay in a very beautiful city, and we recommend it without hesitation to anyone visiting Prague.

Leeds, England

We stayed at this hotel for three nights and it was fantastic. It was pretty expensive but hardly surprising considering the great view from our window of the Astronomical clock and the Old Town square. Plus, nothing was too much trouble for the staff and they were wonderful. They arranged for a driver to pick us up from the airport and back again. The room and bathroom were spotless, and we loved the decor. Despite the huge crowds gathered below the window on the hour to see the clock, we couldn\'t hear a thing when the window was shut so it wasn\'t a problem. And we had a much better view than they did! There was plenty to choose from for breakfast to set you up for the day, and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly. One of the best things about having the restaurant/cafe downstairs was the chance to have an enormous piece of cake and a cup of coffee late in the evening! They\'re open till midnight. We\'d never seen so many different types of cake. There were a good number of restaurants along the street outside the hotel so you are right next to your room when you\'ve finished your meal! I would definitely recommend this hotel if you can afford it, but make sure you get a room with a view!
