Sheffield, UK I totally disagree with the previous negative review regarding Andel's. I believe the whole point of going to a city like Prague is to soak up its culture. We used Prague's transport system day and night & found it a good experience, much better than in the UK. The Metro runs services every 2 minutes & it took only a few minutes to get into the centre & all the main attractions. 50p will get you 90 mins of travel on the metro, tram & bus system. (Remember to validate your ticket!). The escalators for the Metro are brilliantly & sometimes crazily steep, vertigo sufferers beware!
Andel's location is in my opinion a blessing in disguise, the surrounding area having a good selection of restaurants & bars itself. We can recommend 'Corleones', tasty food @ very low prices.
The hotel itself is really modern looking, very 'Ikea' but also quite cosy. The rooms are a little small & what the hell is going on with that see-through toilet door??? Nice big bed & power shower actually starts to hurt after a while. The breakfast is nice but weird, green beans & carrots for breakfast anyone?. Staff were friendly & all spoke excellent English. I would definitely recommend Andel's but look around on the net for deals as prices can vary.

psdeano@hotmail.com, Leeds Rather than repeat what other satisfied guests have reported, can I just add:
Getting there: At the Airport, go to the DP-Praha transport info desk for your bus/metro/tram tickets. Outside, get the 100 express bus to Zlicin ("Zlicheen"). Change to the metro (use same ticket), get off 9 stops later at Andel. Two exits -- choose the one marked 'Tram'. Outside Andel metro station, turn left, left at the corner, and first left again! The hotel is on the right hand side, less than 3 mins walk from the metro.
1. If you smile at the staff, they smile back. Even the cleaners said 'Dobry den' to me.
2. Andel's is an international "businessmen's" hotel, and it tries hard to cater for all its guests. (When did YOU last see Japanese Miso soup in a European breakfast buffet?)
3. Having said that, avoid the sickly over-sweetened orange 'nectar' and crunchy cereal. There are plenty more things to choose from. And a massive range of breads to slice and feed through the conveyor-belt toaster.
4. The Novy Smichov shopping mall (100 yds away) is full of designer shops, M&S, C&A, a huge Carrefour supermarket for cheap booze AND bottled water, and a food court on the top floor. Try Panda for big portions of Chinese + rice + a big glass of beer for about £3. Oh, and a multiplex cinema and 10-pin bowling, in case you get tired of boozing!
5. Travel tips: From opposite Andel metro, get Tram 12 ('Palmovka') to Malostranske Namesti. Then, either walk down a little side street to Karluv Most (Charles Bridge), or stay at the stop and get Tram 22 or 23, which climbs the hair-pin bends and drops you at Prague Castle.
6. Lastminute say that rooms have tea/coffee making facilities. Only Andel's Club rooms (5th floor, a lot more expensive) have these.
7. Be careful not to oversleep. After a good night out, the comfortable beds and wonderful 3-ft square pillows are very relaxing.

London We paid £60 per night for a double which seems quite good value for this hotel.
Rooms are stylish as is the reception area. The beds were very comfotable. Rooms are smallish. Furninishings are nice and modern but a little worn in places.
Mini bar was quite pricey so we avoided using this - there's a supermarket in the shopping centre at the end of road where you can buy drinks and nibbles.
Breakfast was very very average. I would advise not bothering to get it. Good selection just fairly tasteless food.
Reception staff are efficent but not very friendly or overly accomodating for any non standard request.
Nice hotel, would stay again.

West Hartford,Ct We just returned from a 3 night stay at The Andels and throughly enjoyed it. We were on the 5th floor where they had a wonderful coffee machine. The room was very clean, but alittle small and no drawer space. Light shines through the bathroom to the bedroom which is disturbing to the person who is already asleep. Staff was exceptional. Catered to our every need. Breakfast was included in the price of our room. It was EXCELLENT. Anything and everything you could possibly want to eat was available. My husband and I would stay at the Andels again. Just be careful of the fares if you use a taxi. They vary to the point where it is a joke! Also, the pick pockets in Prague are everywhere. Be very careful. Our friend had his wallet stolen on the Metro from his pocket. We were also targetted on the tram but realized what was happening and we were able to ward them off.

Omagh, N.Ireland Just returned from a 5 night stay in Andels Hotel Prague. Best deal was with ebookings[--] at E865 for superior room B&B basis.I put an additonal comment in the booking form online that it was our wedding anniversary and asked for a nice room. We got upgraded free of charge to a suite on the 5th floor which was fantastic. Huge bed/pillows/plasma tv/ excellent ensuite/great bedlinen/towles/robes etc. Bring your own CDs as great sound system in the ensuite. Coffee making machine on 5th floor makes great coffee and large choice of herbal teas, although tea/coffee making facilities are in the suites but not in the bedrooms. (I didnt see into any of the other rooms but gather from the other reviews that the rooms may be small so perhaps disappointing by the suite standards)
Previous tripadvisors advice was great - at the airport, go to transport desk and buy 7 day ticket (or 3 days) - only cost about 7E which covers buses/trams/metro. You validate it the first time you get on and after that just pop on and off the great transport system without having to queue. In the airport go to Exit F, get the 100 bus (validate ticket) and stay on until the end (Zlicin) which is the metro station. Go to the metro B yellowline and Andels is 9 stops. Head for the end which says 'Trams' and walk straight out of station, turn left and then left again and the hotel is down that street on the right. Check in time is not until 3.00pm so you may have to leave your luggage. As you come out of the hotel there is a courtyard area on your left to the cinema and there is a good restaurant/cafe there (cannot remember the name but its the one with the crowds sitting outside) for well priced drink/snacks (the hotel bar/brasserie is expensive).
We would highly recommend that you go to the Zamrada v Opere (Garden in the Opera) Restaurant for excellent high quality food at great prices. It had been recommended to us before we went so I'm passing on the good news. At the very top of Wencesas Square facing the museum and standing at McDonalds, you will see an awful looking square glass building across the road to the left. The restaurant is in there around the other side -just follow the lime green flower signs for it.(Flowers seem to be their theme as a lot of the food comes dressed with beautiful colurful edible flowers!) We went to it twice it was so good. We had starters( smoked halibut, and huge tropical fruit/feta cheese salad which was enough for two), main courses ( the beefsteak is Fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection as was the fillets of salmon) , one sweet (Irish strawberries with the most chocolaty ice cream ever), a bottle of the movarian sauvignon blanc, expresso and irish coffee(tell them to put the sugar in it before adding the cream) for £37 for the two of us. The restauranct is also air conditioned which was a blessing as we had weather in the eighties and not a lot of the restaurants or shops have air conditioning.
The other thing that we noticed is that very few people dress up to go out. Everything is very casual ,and comfortable shoes are the order of the day.
Also I had been told that Euros were acceptable - in fact very few places take euros. And dont change your money at the Bureaus at the the airports - the rate there and commission is very bad value - order your currency in your local bajnk before you go, or shop around the bureau de changes in Prague for the best value However Credit cards/debit cards are widely acceptable and there are plenty of atms -the rate of exchange on them has proven much better than the rip off rate at the airport so you really dont need to take a lot of currency with you. The rate is approx 40 Kroners to the £1 stg - (the bottle of movarian sauvignon blanc worked out at less than £6,- not bad for a good wine in high class restaurant!)
Hope you find this review useful. Have a great time in this lovely city and hotel.
