Hotel Rott is in a great location around the corner from the Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Square. Mostly quiet at night. Clean rooms. Ours was a twin, quite small but clean and had a corridor to the bathroom that afforded a little more privacy than usual. Good breakfast between 7-10am. Didn\'t like the juices and cakes but everything else was fine. Plenty of choice.
The lifts were glass and as I suffer from claustrophobia and would not normally use a lift I felt able to use them without discomfort.
Staff were pleasant but on two occasions I called for help with the safe and they did not respond at all . Luckily the safe opened eventually for me. The English spoken by the staff was not that clear and this did cause some difficulty.
On arrival we were given a voucher for a restaurant and were not shown where it was. This resulted in us going to the Restaurace U ROTTA next door who had staff on the door saying they were belonging to Hotel Rott when in fact they were not. Restaurace U Rotta overcharged us, did not present the Czech folk dance they promised on their advertisement, just a heavy jazz trio. They doubled the bill for our meal, charged us for bread we had not ordered or eaten, and charged us 220CK for a small bottle of water. I think they saw 2 British women alone and tried it on. A large man argued with us over the bill.
We warned Hotel Rott staff that this restaurant is riding on their reputation and clearly ruining it but they could not see the problem. It was a very upsetting experience for us.
However I would rate Hotel Rott as a 3 star + and would stay there again and recommend it for others. Just do not go to the Restaurace U Rotta next door !! (see photo \"outside hotel\").

We stayed at this hotel for 8 days in July while attending a conference at the University. It is a short walk to the University and is an ideal location for sightseeing. Our room was on the 4th floor and was large but had no windows. There was a heat wave in Prague the week that we were there (temps in the upper 90\'s F.) so the room did get rather warm. There is a skylight that opens and a portable air conditioner so we could keep the high temps moderated somewhat. Other rooms on lower floors that had regular windows were cooler than ours on the 4th floor. We found the hotel staff to be very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and was serviced very well by the maids. Breakfast was better than we are used to in most places that we stay in Europe. The buffet included two styles of eggs, sausage, bacon, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, breads, cheeses and cold meats. More than adequate. On the weekend there was quite a bit of street noise but that is to be expected with the hotel\'s central location. During the week noise was not a problem. The prices of the items in the minibar were much cheaper than at other hotels where we have stayed. All in all we were very satisfied with Hotel Rott and would stay there again.
