Birmingham Well I supose it was my own fault! Was our first time to this lovely city but we choose the wrong hotel. Rooms were typical 3* rooms, however the hotel was full of kids (students!!) really loud always hanging about. The breakfast was bread & water to put it nicely. Also not in the best part of city to stop in - a bit rough and away from the castle which is by far the best bit for anyone who is going there soon.
However if on a budget at least you know what to expect.

North West England Arrived at the hotel about 8am. OK the concrete block which is the hotel needs a second look, it blends in with the dirt and graffeti.
The reception area is small and on the occasions I saw it, it was full of parties of teenagers from Italy, Spain, etc who were leaving/arriving at the hotel.
Our room on the 5th floor overlooked a main road, thank goodness for secondary glazing to keep out some of the noise, the dur durs were up and down the road at all hours they must have a competition to see who can make the most noise. Entry to the rooms are by electronic key card, the code is changed upon arrival.
The room, well, it was clean and tidy, the towels, duvet cover, bed sheet and pillow cases were actually white, the towels were changed daily. The shower was steaming hot but with a broken shower holder. The tv had BBC World service, CNN, MTV, etc
One problem about the hotel is that they do not do hospitality trays, no brewing tackle in the rooms. you could get a brew in the restaurant up until 10pm (optimistic). Best move we did was take a kettle, you can buy the rest nearby.
The metro is opposite the main door about 100 yards away, dead easy and so cheap to use, colour coded metro lines which saves on shoe leather. Go on a guided tour first of Prague, no point bimbling about only seeing a small amount and knowing nothing about it, then have fun on the trams and metro!
Forgot to mention, the lift in the hotel, its small, carpet material on the walls and ceiling. Some people don`t like it but theres always the stairs! once out of the lift you need your key card to get onto your floor, another piece of security besides able to lock your hotel door.
The food in the restaurant was different, but it at least filled a hollow until we could find somewhere else. (McDonalds is only up the road, how sad)
In a nutshell, I would go there again - with my kettle and ear plugs. If you want Hilton service then you pay Hilton prices.

Leicestershire As in previous reviews the first sight of the Legie might put you off. The hotel is a bit dated and found the smell of food drifted through the hotel. The actual rooms were big & clean with fresh towels each day. Their is a construction site next door, so we did get woke up every morning at about 7-oclock! Breakfast is basic, but a good selection altough only one 2 slice toaster for all guests! For the location and how clean the rooms were you cannot fault the Legie for a cheap stay. We found a nice italian just up the road, (head staight out of hotel towards church and its on the left hand side, about a 5 mins walk) had meal and drinks for less than 500 koruna.

Stirling We had a 3 night stay in this hotel, the room was nice, clean and comfortable. Fresh towels were provided everyday, the soap dispensers worked. Breakfasts were good, fresh fruit provided, breads, pastries, cereal, fruit juice, tea and coffee. 2 of the 3 days the lift was not working. This was not a problem most of the time, but when we arrived we had to carry our luggage up to our room which was on the 8th floor which was a bit too much. Next to this hotel they are constructing a new building, at 6:30 every morning of our stay workmen walked past our bedroom window on the balcony dragging equipment and shouting at each other. The only other problem we had was fellow guests, we were unlucky to get a large group of men (Stag party) who at 7 in the morning started running up and down the corridors shouting at each other and knocking on each others doors. Other hotel guests did complain and did come out of their rooms to shout at them to be quiet. We found that there was no noise at night but would have preffered if the hotel had been quieter in the mornings. I am not sure that the hotels can really do anything about unruly guests.

Mansfield Notts My wife and I have just had a wonderful 3 nights in the Legie hotel. We were a bit wary after reading some of the reviews. What a load of moaning minnies. Complaints that the lift had carpets on it\'s walls. So what? It worked perfectly well and propelled us up to a nice clean comfortable room on th 7th floor. The breakfast was quite good with a big choice of food. All in all a good hotel for the price.
