Cardiff, UK Excellent location, right in the centre for travelling (walking) around Prague, indeed a good pair of shoes is recommended. Best guide book would have to be Rough Guide to Prague, the maps were invaluable.
Christmas markets were a bit of a disappointment, but atmosphere made up for the lack of christmas spirit in the uk.
Felt safe during all of the visit, local pubs although spoke little englishe were welcoming and friendly.
The hotel is clean and tidy, although the lift is a little ancient, but works! Room was clean tidy and big, could hear the busy street at night but were totally tired out from the day exploring prague that it really didn\'t figure.
Breakfast would have been better if it were hot, Prague was very cold in December. Several (rude) Italian school children were staying there at the time so breakfast time was a bit of a mele and uncertain if a table would be free, but other than that was an excellent base, cheap but comfortable.
Would def recommend.

Melbourne just back, wonderful city, but very busy with tourist, hotel looks terrible from the outside, but is in a very good location. room very good, very clean, new towels every day, but hot even in darkest winter. no tea or coffee in the room which was disapointing. also no hair dryer was availabe in the room but reception were happy to lend one. breakfast ok but the room was slightly outdated. the reception staff were very helpful and speak good english., we would stay again for the cost and location.

John Good Budget Hotel
From the outside you might run a mile, when you see the lift you probably will. BUT DONT. The staff are very helpful, the rooms are spotless. The location is good. The only moan I had was the lack of air con, but with the windows left open whilst you going out exploring even this was not a problem. I will return.

Edinburgh If you are planning a trip to the Hotel Legie be prepared for a very basic experience. The Hotel is a huge grey concrete block on the corner of a massively busy road & the traffic noise is extremely loud if your room faces onto the front of the building. The reception area is uninviting and the staff are not overly friendly. Rooms themselves are large and bright with basic and practical furniture - bathrooms relatively small and internal. The hotel has a very dodgy lift with carpet up the walls so I would recommend taking the stairs even if you are on the 5th floor!
Breakfast is disappointing - dried out fruit sitting in the sun, basic continental offering and uninspired surroundings - ie steel windows length & breadth of the restaurant. The hotel is about 15 mins walk from Wenselas Square and the walk is ok but slighly undesirable at night time. Although the experience wasn't awful expect a very basic hotel in a busy area.

Peterborough, UK Reason for stay:
Romantic long weekend with girlfriend over Valentine's Day.
External Appearance:
Be prepared for a shock. We were dropped off by the minibus from the airport and were confronted by a concrete monstrosity with graffiti on the front. Not the best first impression. The windows were full of photos of what we guess were old Czech soldiers. The hotel is home to the Czech equivalent of a Royal British Legion meeting place on one floor, but that is separate from the rest of the hotel.
Reception:
Staff were welcoming and the refurbishment made the reception area look modern, clean and inviting. However, the lift really is grim with carpet all over the inside and it's very small. Had to use it on arrival, because our room was on the 7th floor.
Room:
Couldn't have asked for better! Top floor, on the corner with loads of big windows and views over all over the city, including the castle and all the church spires. Awesome. Furniture was modern and the room was light and clean. Satellite TV was limited with BBC news and MTV Europe in English, but you don't go to Prague to watch TV! It snowed while we were in Prague and it very cold outside, but the room was toasty warm, so no worries on that front. No air conditioning, so might be very warm in the summer, although our room would have a through draft if you left the windows open.
Food:
Breakfast was basic Continental, but nothing wrong with that. Loads of bread, cold meats, cheese, yoghurt, cereals, and hot local sausages. You get what you pay for. I've been to more expensive hotels in eastern Europe where breakfast was very similar.
Location:
5 mins walk from Wencelas Square. If you are a 'delicate wee soul', you might find some elements of the area daunting, but the hotel is in the centre of a European capital city. Wenceslas Square was infamous for prostitution, according to our guide books and there's still some dodgy stuff going on at night. Mainly touts trying to attract English Stag Do's into their nearby strip clubs, but these are located off Wenceslas Square. On the plus side, we found a lovely pizzeria on Stepanska just 5 mins from the hotel and if you must go to an expat pub, there's a big Irish pub just off Wenceslas Square as well. We didn't feel the need to buy tram tickets, because everywhere was within walking distance of the hotel. Even the castle was a very scenic 30-45 mins walk.
Overall:
Clean, basic hotel with modern refurbished rooms. Close to the city centre and we could pop back in the day when we had done enough sight-seeing or were just too cold. Definately did the job. We got engaged in Prague!
