UK We stayed at the Ambassador for three nights early Feb. We booked a deal direct with the hotel that included a junior suite, collection for the airport and a guided tour of the city. The collection from the airport was without hitch and our driver was nice,we arrived at the hotel and everything was ready for us. We were given a great room (403) it was really large with a balcony overlooking the sqaure. The bathroom was great with a walk in shower and jacuzzi tub. The hotel manager gave us some welcome drink tokens, there was a bottle of wine in our room and we were given a voucher for free meal for two in the Halali Restaurant (which was not included in the inital package). The hotel itself was really well located although Wenceslas Sqaure can get a bit rauchous at night particularlly at the weekend with offers of clubs and drugs but it\'s wasn\'t threatening at all. The Hotel had great facilites although the food and drink prices were really expensive with beer nearly three times the price of any of the other bars in the area. You also get the feeling that hotel is popular with business visitors but that keeps the quality high.
Breakfast was great with loads of choice both hot and cold and the service was good.
We also used that Thai massage palour the treatment was reasonably priced and beautifully set however personally I found the massage too rough.
Of an evening we went to the Casino which was small, smokey and very busy, but it was fun if you could get on one of the tables.
The only downside to the whole hotel was the prices of the food and drink but there was plently of places outside to buy cheaper soft drinks etc for the room

Reading What a great location, right in the centre of the city, within walking distance of all places you would want to visit. hotel itself is very clean and tidy, although drinks in bar area are expensive compared to bars and other hotels in the vicinity. staff are very helpfull. We stayed in a suite which for the money was very good value with views onto the Square. This place is a great for a pre-xmas trip to get you in the christmas spirt. Prague itself is cheap to eat and drink out.

London We stayed here for New Years leading into 2007. The hotel is in a great location within easy walk to most locations in Prague. Breakfasts were fantastic with a great range of hot and cold food. The room was slightly cramped as beds have increased in size over the years, however the bathroom made up for this. Spa bath and separate shower. I wouldn\'t rate this as a 5 star and some of the services were expensive by Prague standards, but the location is fantastic and overall is a quality hotel.

North Wales Stayed here on a 2 night break in Prague 19th - 21st Dec.
It\'s a 5* hotel, but I would give it a 4* by UK standards. The Ambassador Hotel is a very grand old building, beautiful architecture. High ceiling in the bedroom with unusual chandelier, huge bed, mini bar, T.V. and fab bathroom. The spa bath was an added bonus - great for those weary muscles after a day of city walking! The bathrobe and slippers are always a nice touch too and it was lovely to have a seperate shower cubicle. There was a huge selection of breakfast cuisine to appeal to the wide range of nationalities staying. I particularly enjoyed the omlette and pancake stations! The only negatives I had about the hotel were a few hairs in the bathroom which wasn\'t as clean as I would have expected, and the staff didn\'t greet you as you entered or left the hotel. They almost seemed shy or afraid to speak! I was worried that due to the central location it would be very noisy (especailly with a 24hr casino and all night strip club!), but the only noise we heard was from the loud child in the room next door.
Great location, especially for access to the metro (don\'t pay over the odds for a taxi to / from the airport, public transport is cheap and frequent). Christmas markets were lovely although the crafts etc were duplicated on many stalls - shop aound, the prices vary! We bought several of the glass hand painted christmas baubles as presents along with some traditional puppets. Loved the hot chocolate there and the gorgeous sugary pastry roll things \'Trdlo\'? were devine. We went on a horse and carriage ride around Old Town, very romantic! The steep walk up to the castle is well worth the views of the city. We were a bit dissapointed in the famous astronomical clock, but then again we weren\'t sure what to expect. If you go in the winter months, wrap up warm - it\'s freezing! Prague is lovely city to visit, I\'d recommend it as a city break destination, and if you get a good deal, stay at the Ambassador!

UK I have just returned from New Years in Prague and must say that if you are staying in Prague then stay in the AZL.
It has a perfect location in Wenceslas Square (right in the centre of Prague) which is within walking distance of practically everything and if you dont like walking the underground Metro station is right next to the hotel, which is very cheep to use (25p) and looks very new and clean. You can pretty much get anywhere from this station.
We went to the New Years Eve Gala dinner and it was wonderful (although quite pricey at €150 per person). The food was great and apart from the dodgey DJ the live entertainment was good and got better as the free drink flowed.
Hotel Good points
>Location!!!
>Majority of staff understand a good level of English
>Bathrooms (Hydrotherapy bath)
>Breakfast (they have everything you can think of)
>NEW YEARS EVE ENTERTAINMENT (book well in advance)
Hotel Bad Points
>The hotel is a 5* but this is a little bit of a push, it is very nice but not quite what I would call 5*
>Bed is a little hard
>TV only shows 2 English Channels ‘BBC world’ and ‘CNN’ both of which just repeat the same news over and over again on a loop (it is nice to watch something when you are getting ready or just got back in from a days walking round the city).
>A word of warning about information published about its location. It is NOT!! at the very end of the square facing down to the National museum, it is at the end of the square but on the side looking across the street and to see the museum or the castle you will need to lean right out your window and look at 90 degrees to your left or right.
General Prague Tips
>Keep your hand on your wallet, although nothing happened to me we got enough warnings about pickpockets to know that this is quite a problem in the city.
>At new years beware of locals setting off fireworks in the street, a few rockets exploding at your feet and showering you in burning embers kinda wakes you up a bit.
>Be Prepared for food and Drink prices, on a par with central London when in the tourist areas.
>Most streets are cobbled and uneven so any thin sole or high heels should be left at home on this trip.
>For Some reason Czech people are quite rude without meaning to be, be ready for mumbled grunts in answer to a question, an annoyed cant be bothered look if asked to do anything and people barging you out of there way. Just don’t take it to heart and you will be fine, its just there way I think. Also get used to them clearing your plates away as you eat rather than at the end of the meal whether you are all finished or not.
>non-smokers beware, you will have trouble getting away from chain smokers unless you goto the better restaurants and even then you will still have some bother. Almost drove us mad by the end of the trip BAN SMOKING IN PUBLIC PLACES
GOOD RESTAURANTS LOCAL TO HOTEL
£££££ HOT (al la carte SUSHI, CZK, ENG)
££££ El Gaucho (al la carte Steakhouse *****)
£££ Pizza Coliseum (Italian)
