Hotel Residence Lundborg

Manchester, UK

My friend and I have just returned from a 4 day break in Prague and we stopped at the Rezidence Lundborg. What a fabulour place to stay. Literally at the end of Charles Bridge, (Palace side). Fantastic rooms, we had a large bright and airy twine bedded bedroom , a large lounge with FREE internet conection(which is great for finding things regardin Prague while you are still there eg. restaurants) Tv\'s in both bedroom and loungs area and then an enormous bathroom with a great jacuzzi bath. There is also a fridge and hob is you wish to eat in, but it is so cheap to eat tou it seems pointless. Would highly recommend this great place , staff are very friendly and polite and helpful. A great place to eat is the Cafe Bufee restaurant, if you go up the steps onto Charles Bridge turn right, up the street a few yards and turn left at the supermarket follow the road around to the Maltese church and this cafe/restaurant is on the opposite counter.
We ended up seriously delayed comning back from Prague and the airline put us up at the Crown Plaza, which is well out of town and nowhere near as pleasant as the Lundborg

My friend and I (two women traveling together) stayed in this hotel for only 1 night. It was absolutely wonderful, and our only regret is that we stayed for only one night. We wanted a two bedroom apt., and that is exactly what we got by booking what they listed as a \"ladies suite\". We had suite #2. One bedroom had a queen size bed, the other had 2 twin beds, so this suite would be excellent for a small family or 3 individuals traveling together. The staff were extremely polite and helpful. My firend\'s luggage did not arrive on the airplane and the young man working at the reception desk managed to track it down and get it delivered to us from the airport. He was extremely kind!

In addition to the 2 bedrooms, we had a full bath w/ jacuzzi tub (excellent), another 1/2 bath (toilet and sink only), a living area w/ small kitchen stocked w/ dinnerware, cookware, etc. sofa, chairs, TV, etc. In the room w/ the 2 twin beds was a computer connected to the internet, all included in the price.

The location is excellent - the Charles Bridge was right outside our window! Breakfast was also included in our room, and it was very nice, eggs, bacon, excellent rolls and pastries, cheese, salamies, etc.

I highly recommend this hotel. We had no problems w/ bookings as reported by previous posts. We made our reservation via Expedia, and the price was right for us!

UK

We stayed in this hotel on April this year for three nights. The hotel had promised us an \"executive suite\", but we only got a junior one upon arrival. When we challenged the manager, we were advised that the executive one had been given to someone else. We were offered an apology and a bottle of wine.

The location is excellent. Most things are within walking distance (Prague city centre is anyway). Breakfast was all right. Eggs, bacon and sausages were the only cooked options. Staff were polite and helpful.

We would be happy staying there again, and we would recommend the hotel to others, but make sure you do not overpay.

Thanks,

This is THE place to stay in Prague. The Lundborg is a perfect, small hotel containing just 13 suites (no rooms, just suites). It is situated about 50 metres from the beautiful Charles Bridge with most suites having views of the bridge. Ours (suite 5) was on the third floor. We had a jacuzzi bathroom and dining area with a view to the towered-gateway of Mala Strana. Our bedroom and seperate living room both had windows overlooking the Charles Bridge immediately outside. The views could not have been better. The suite was a tasteful blend of both traditional and modern, complimenting the 700 year old building, which was formerly a monestary. Quality wooden furniture finished in a distressed blue colour, matching leather sofa, chairs etc. Each suite has a kitchenette with twin hob, sink, fridge, mini-bar, crockery, cuttlery, cooking pans etc. Our suite had two TVs - on in the bedroom and another in the living room. The suite comes with a PC (with free, yes FREE) internet access and also a CD/radio hi-fi. CD\'s are available from a library of music at reception at no charge. Each suite is slightly different, so check out the hotel\'s helpful website which has pictures and descriptions of each. The hotel is pristine, spotlesslsy clean and immaculate. The included buffet breakfast is served in the small, groundfloor restaurant and comprises both hot and cold selections. We got a great deal through hotelsbycity.com so that we booked three nights in suite 5, with buffet breakfast in the hotel\'s restaurant for just 453 Euros (which works out at around £100 per night). Everything you need to see in Prague no more than a 20 minute stroll away - most sights are within a 5 minute walk. Across the bridge, you\'ll find the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter (Josovo) and Wenceslas Square. On the hotel side of the Bridge you\'ll be a short walk away from the MUST SEE Prague Castle and a funicular railway to Petrin Park with it\'s look-out tower. Two great restaurants I could recommend near the hotel (two out of hundreds of restaurants, snack shops, bars etc) are the U Castela Restaurant and it\'s adjoining Pizza Bar (actually a Trattoria). Just walk under the gateway of Mala Strana and up the street for 2 minutes, they\'re on your left in a vaulted arcade of shops, just as you reach the square. Fantastic Czech cuisine, beautifully presented at reasonable prices (Wild Boar in blue cheese sauce, Duck, Venison ec) There\'s even a resident blind pianist to tinkle the ivories as you dine. Our 10 year old son also enjoyed eating at a branch of the ubiquitous McDonalds chain -just a few minutes away up the street into Mala Strana. You must also see the Marionette worskshop and shop next to the hotel. Just think of a traditional toyshop in a Christmas Tale - or the toymaker in Pinnochio - it\'s just like that - pure magic ! The entire area of historic central Prague is tasteful (even McDonalds is unobtrusive), very safe and gives the visitor a feeling of being transported back into a fairytale land of history. Try a walking tour - they leave from outside the Astronominal Clock in the old town square throughout the day and evening. We were in Prague for Halloween and took our son on an hour long ghost tour (they leave the clock at 8pm & 8.30 nightly - no need to book - just turn up). It added an extra dimension to the spooky night-time cobbled streets. There\'s even a 30 minute boat tour of Prague which you can catch just opposite the hotel - everything is just so convenient from the Lundborg. Do choose to stay at the Lundborg - it\'s quite simply the best choice - luxury suites at an affordable price !

Poughkeepsie, New York

Stayed at the Residence Lundborg for six nights last Sept. and absolutely loved it. It is located right next to the Charles Bridge on the Mala Strana side. We had three windows that looked right out on the bridge and could not imagine a better place to be. What a thrill it was to get up every morning and to throw those windows open to the wonderful view. We also had a view of the city gate leading to the Mala Strana from the window in the hallway of our suite. All the rooms in the hotel are suites. In addition to the complimentary internet service right in the room, we had two TVs, a CD player, a kitchenette and a Jacuzzi. The hotel is a former monastery at least 600 years old which was built on the old Judith Bridge, the forerunner to the Charles. The Judith Bridge was washed away in a flood centuries ago. The floors in the suite are hardwood laminate and the walls are decorated with the owner\'s collection of old postcards of Prague which are enlarged and framed - very tasteful. There was an adorable marionette shop right next to the hotel where you could look in the window and watch the marionettes being made. We were thrilled with this place and would definitely stay there again.
