Hotel Abri

Lurgan, United Kingdom

Just got back from Prague and had a great time in the city.My wife and I went for a short break for Valentines and stayed at the Hotel Abri. The hotel is in a great location in a quiet street 5 minutes from Namesti Miru metro station. This made it easy to get about the city because the main sights are on this line(A) and it worked out the cheapest way to travel around the city.
The hotel is clean and basic with not too many luxuries for those travellers who like more amenities but it is just a place \"to lay your head\" and was sufficent for our needs.
The main surprise in Prague is the prices, which are definitely on the rise compared to my last visit (2004).I found most things
like food, drink, shopping etc to be at least 70-80% more expensive than before and it is losing its reputation as a cheap break destination.
We did have a lovely dinner at Hergetova Cihelna on Valentines night but it was as expensive as any London restaurant, around £120 for a couple with wine & drinks.
All in all Prague is a interesting town to visit but has become a little more expensive than other towns in Europe.

Sidney

I was visiting Prague partially on business and was booked into the Abri by my Prague contacts for 7 nights. Local knowledge goes a long way and this hotel is excellent. The rooms are large, the public areas, local, bar and restaurant are great, it is quiet and has free wireless Internet. The best thing about the hotel is the staff, who are all young and friendly. The resultant atmosphere is very relaxed and laid back. After a long day walking in Prague it is nice to kick back with a beer at the hotel bar (yes it\'s Urquell!), and the barman Andre is a real character, entertainment in his own right. The breakfast is not great but I did eat in the restaurant one night and it was fine.

Manchester

Have just returned from my trip in Prague. Was due to stay in the Hotel San Marco but they shipped me to the Hotel Abri. Really liked the hotel in terms of location and helpfulness of staff. Ate there one night and it was pleasant. Very quiet and very accessible. Also good as not right in the very very centre the local bars etc are much cheaper. Still only a 10 minute walk to centre though so ideal for that too. Would recommend as long as you\'re not after luxury.

Firenze

We´ve just come back from our trip to Prague. We stayed in hotel Abri for 4 nights and I must say we really enjoyed it. We got the room facing the street. It was totally calm at night as there is no traffic and no street noises either. The staff in the reception is very friendly, they explained us everything about the public transport , showed us the main attractions on the map and recommended us restaurants where we can get typacal czech food. Breakfast was ok. I recommend this hotel to the young travellers as well as to the families.

UK, MIDLANDS

We were moved to Abri hotel because the initial hotel we had booked could not offer us a room due to renovations. I cannot commend on the price as it was the price we would have paid on the previous hotel booked. We stayed in room 109 which was very spacious for European standards. Although by the road, it could be noisy during the day because of the pebled road outside. It did not prove to be a problem with us though (you are out most of the day). The breakfast was cold buffet and quite basic. We had a meal at the restaurant which proved a nice surprise (cheap and tasty). If you get a good price and you do not mind a bit of walking (about 5 to 10 min) to the metro and tram station (the most main lines) then it is a good choice. The reception staff was friendly and spoke English.
