Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

For the average traveller this hotel is great, it is in a excellent part of town (Mala Strana - old town) about a 10 min walk to the castle and charles bridge. There is also a pub right next door which does excellent food and beer and it is very cheap, I have stayed in this hotel 3 times in the past and I honestly can't fault it. Oh dear, what a disapointment this hotel was. On our arrival the receptionist (who couldn't even be bothered to look up at us) virtually threw the pens at us that were needed to fill in the check in forms which was the sign of things to come. The rooms do not have tea or coffee making facilities or a restaurant (just a room for the breakfast buffet), or room service as our operator advertised and the fitness room and sauna were never open. We requested extra pillows on our first night and were told after an hour that they do not have a chamber maid to bring them and would not even give them to us while we were stood at the reception, we had to wait a further 30 mins for another member of staff to come in. On our second day we had no hot water to wash in before breakfast and was greated with a shrug from the weekend Manageress who simply said that there was nothing she could do. The staff on reception on Monday were very polite and helpful but for us it was too late. Prague is beautiful but for us it was spoilt by this hotel, we would not recommend it to anyone and certainly would not say it deserves a 4* rating. Also do not fly with Czech Airlines, the airport was closed for 2 days on our return and their policy for bad weather does not include hotel accomodation or even a drink and some food so when all other airlines were quite obliging we were stranded and had to wait 7 hours in a queue for a transfer only for that flight not to go either.
