Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

We chose this hotel after extensive research based on reviews at this website as well as location. (We were meeting my parents for the weekend who were staying at the much more expensive Marriott just one street away.) We booked the room two months prior; unfortunately, when we arrived from the airport at noon we were informed that there was a "problem with our reservation" (no explanation, something about the computers) and arrangements had been made to taxi us to another hotel (Hotel U Kocku--separate review posted). While the manager was very apologetic and we didn't want to cause a fuss, we were extremely disappointed. The other hotel, while located closer to sightseeing, was not nearly as nice and the street noise made sleep impossible until 3 am both nights. I'm not sure what we could have done to have avoided this situation, or if we'd refused to accept the alternative accommodation, if a room would have suddenly become available. At any rate, if you book directly with the hotel, CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION just before arriving!
