Hotel President

Wirral, Merseyside

If you have booked this hotel, you can relax right now as you have made an excellent choice.

It is located next to the Vlatava river near the Jewish quarter of Prague. It is in the next road to the main shopping street Pradiska where you will find Lacoste, Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton etc.
The hotel has its own limo pick up service where they will meet you at the airport in a stylish black Mercedes Benz A class car (room for 4 passengers and 2 suitases) - the cost is £43 for a RETURN trip - fantastic value - book directly with the hotel (1550 czech kronas). Doors are opened for you and cases taken to your room by the bellboys. We stayed in a superior room at the rear of the hotel which had superb views of the beautiful Prague castle - stunning at night. Rooms are very spacious with king size bed, mini bar, tv with Sky channels, air conditioned, lovely marble bathroom. All spotlessly clean. Breakfast was plentiful and included in our price. Sausage, bacon, scrambled egg, fried eggs to order, cold meats, cheeses, cereals, crossiants, jam, crusty bread, toast, yoghurts, danish pastries - you name it, they had it.

The hotel has 2 computers in the reception area and you can have 20 minutes free use at a time to check your emails while you are away. The hotel has a nice bar but drinks are quite pricey - much cheaper to drink out of the hotel. Hotel has a very small casino in the reception area. It never got too packed. If you require a bigger casino there is a Happy Days casino in the main shopping street Paridiska.

The hotel has a beauty salon and also a small gym in the basement.
There is a 24 hour reception desk where the staff were always very helpful. There is also a good concierge service staffed by Milo and Brigitte - where you can buy tram tickets, tour tickets and also get recommendations for local restaurants.

The hotel restaurant is lovely. On our arrival we found a Buy One Get One Free voucher in the room which we used on our first night. They knocked a full 50% off the bill. Look out for this on the mini bar as you enter the room. If not there, may be worth asking the concierge can you have one to try out the hotel restaurant.

Mini bar a bit pricey as with many hotels of this standard so it may be worth buying drinks in local shops and storing them in the mini bar to save money.

Bottles of water are about 50p in local shops.

Maid service is excellent and daily. They also leave little chocolates on your pillow.

The hotel is well situated for all the sights.

Come out of the hotel and turn left. Stay on the main road following the river line and you will come to the Charles Bridge in a few minutes.

For Parisdska shopping street, come out of hotel and turn left and 1st left again. You will pass all the shops and at the end of the road you will hit Old Town Square - keep going again and you will arrive at Wenceslas Square.

The sights I would recommend are the Astronomical Clock in Old Town Square - watch what happens ON THE HOUR. Prague Castle is stunning. Various tours to do within the Castle Grounds - you can pick and choose which ones to do. Make sure you do Golden Lane and go in each of the little houses. Little surprises and cute shops to be found in each one. The crossbow shooting in the first house is great fun for £1.50.

Walking across the Charles Bridge is good. You can buy oil paintings or have your characture drawing done by pavement artists.

Wencelas Square is a huge shopping street and is actually more a rectangle shape than a square. You will find Debenhams and C&A along here aswell as numerous bars, restarants and souvenir shops.

There is also a TESCOS not far from here if you need to stock up on anything.

We also did a river cruise which was for 45 minutes for £7.50. Good commentary by the staff and a free beer and chocolate bar whilst you sail.

We had a great time in Prague and would certainly go back again and stay at this same hotel.

If anybody has any questions, please email me on the above address.

Booked this hotel for 4 days for a break with my wife. The hotel is centrally based next to the river and more expensive Inter-Continental Hotel - 2 bridges down (10 mins walk) from Charles Bridge. The junior suite was excellent and room service top class. All the staff were excellent. We did not dine at the hotel, apart from the breakfast, because it was far more expensive than in town. We used the bar for a drink at the beginning of each night but it was hardly used, properly as a result of the prices and lack of atmosphere /piano being loud. The gym was disappointing and the one running machine and one bike did need some attention but the sauna and jacuzzi were excellent. You can book the whole suite free of charge (gym, shower, jacuzzi and sauna). The casino always looked very quiet and I was irritated as to why there was no english papers (US & french only foreign papers).

Overall, first time to prague and if you want a hotel centrally located, without the usual 5* facilities, then this is it. Think of a good english 3/4* and you will be satisfied. Just outside the main hub, so away from the rabble but close enough to walk everywhere, which was helpful as it rained 3 days - we never got one taxi. My recommendation for a czech meal, without paying tourist rates, is the Kolkovna (just five minutes walk from the hotel - V Kolkovne 8 - tel 420 224 819 701). My wife and I had a lovely dinner with several beers for under 1000,- (£25). The hotel will book you a table. Enjoy.

We have just come back from a three night stay at this hotel. We had huge big rooms with all the facilities you would expect from a five star hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful even when checkiing out at some unearthly hour in the morning. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food and service were very good. Breakfast consisted of a huge buffet plus a selection of cooked items. They whipped up an omelette for my daughter without any problem. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

The location is just a few minutes walk from the Old Square and you can cathch a tram to the castle from just acorss the river. We would definitely stay there again if we went back to Prague.

Hong Kong

I just returned from a 4 night stay at the President Prague. I did a lot of research before finally chosing the President. The exterior of the hotel looks cold and unpromising but the interior of the hotel is great- huge tastefully furnished bedrooms, beautiful bathrooms and excellent service. The buffet breakfast was excellent and a great way to start off our day. I live in Hong Kong and travel extensively in Asia where the standard of 5 star hotels are very high. I must say that this hotel had everything you could wish for in a 5 star hotel down to a lounge with live piano music whilst you winddown your day with a cup of hot chocolate or a drink from the bar. Location was great and we walked everywhere. I shall certainly recommend this hotel to all my friends.

ten of us stayed at this hotel for three days on a stag weekend, ages from 28 to 72, found the hotel was spotless as were the rooms , very spacious and every thing you may need was provided. mini bar was reasonably priced and well stocked, including soft brinks and chocolate lol.
liked the fact that you had a safe in your room at no extra cost, and bath robes were provided. the shower was great and unlike some hotels there was plenty of power in the shower.
down side was very expensive in the bar, and some of our party were not very happy when they went into the casino and no one would explain the rules of blackjack, although i frequent casinos a bit i was busy on the roulette table, must say also we were the only punters in there two nights running.
position of hotel was great but we were ripped off in a taxi (reception rung them up for us)cost £8 for taxi but if you leave hotel turn right and right at the corner you can walk to the old square in about 10 mins its straight down the road.
if i can help any more look up my report on trip adviser and ask and i will try my best
