Hotel Alton

Edinburgh

My friend and I are just back from a weekend break in Prague and stayed at the Alton Hotel for two nights. The hotel is situated in a quieter part of the city but has a tram stop and a metro station on the doorstep. It\'s roughly a ten minute walk to Wenceslas Square and thirty minutes to the Old Town Square from the hotel where all the shops and restaurants are situated.
My friend and I each booked a single room but what we actually got is a double room to ourselves. There\'s plenty of storage space, a small fridge and satellite tv (free of charge) and a fully equiped bathroom (shower no bath) and everything is very clean and tidy. Although the rooms are double glazed you do get noise from emergency vehicles as the hotel is near one of the main roads through the city but it\'s only a small negative point (I used ear plugs and slept okay). The buffet breakfast has something for everyone (fresh juices/cereals/meat/cheese/sausages/eggs plus a selection of fresh bread teas and coffee) and everything was freshly served up each morning. We also found the staff to be very helpful and will advise you of what trams to get etc to travel about the city.

To sum up we had a lovely break in Prague and would highly recommend the Alton Hotel.

Paignton, United Kingdom

Stopped over for one night on our tour of Czech. we were so impressed we decided to rebook for the last night of our stay before returning home.

Friendly reception staff, and a clean hotel.

Rooms were very clean and to a good standard, nice shower and tidy rooms.

Breakfast was buffet style and as much as you could eat, and was fine.

Great location by the Museum at Wencesless Sq, lots of nice Bars and restaurants a stroll away, and great for the main drag too.

Can\'t honestly fault any part of the hotel at all, was definatly one of the best I have ever stayed in, and would stay again.

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hotel Alton. A great little hotel that is absolutely spotless - clean towels every day. Breakfast good, staff excellent, great location. Recommend - prague zoo, the black theatre and pizza mezano at the top of Wesclesas Square. Would defo use again.

We stayed in Hotel Alton for 2 nights and were pleased with everything. The hotel is within walking distance to the center. The breakfast was pretty good. and had a lot of variety.
The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The AC worked good. Staff was friendly. I booked our stay directly with the hotel and it was the cheapest. I would certainly recommend the hotel.

My husband & I stayed for 4 days at this hotel in April 2007, and found the hotel perfect for our needs. It\'s directly next to I.P Pavlova metro station, and the trams run past the end of the street. We asked for a quiet room, which we got. The room was clean, comfortable, with a small fridge, and a t.v in the room. The bathroom was really nice & clean, and the maid came in daily. The breakfasts were ok, with something to suit most nationalities. There is no bar, but there is a room that looks onto the street, with an Internet facility. There are several bars and restaurants around the hotel, in particular, Legenda, which is a very nice restaurant/bar, with very good food, and is cheaper than the main tourist areas. ( It is about a 2 minute walk away!}
The hotel is about a 15 to 20 minute walk from the river, Wenceslas square, Old town square, and most major attractions. The public transport is very cheap, safe, clean & efficient- if you don\'t want to walk too far, but it\'s worth wandering around on foot, as you see so much more..
We booked through \"The Prague Experience\" website, and got the hotel, airport transfers, a river dinner cruise, and a city walking tour, all in, for one price, which we found very good value.
Prague is a beautiful city, it was 27 degrees centigrade, which was unusual, but a nice surprise, and is a good destination for a short city break. The hotel is in a safe area, ideally situated as a good link for transport, and we would definately recommend it to future travellers to Prague.
