Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

It\'s taken me ages to get sufficient time to say what a wonderful holiday I had at this luxurious, romantic and memorable hotel, which has a character and charm to match the historical city of Prague.

From the moment we were met at the airport by the hotel driver I was impressed with the personal (and professional) touch and attentive service from all of the staff. From check in to check out the Reception staff did everything they could to ensure our stay lived up to its 5 stars. In fact our expectations were surpassed.

We stayed in a junior suite and relished the large bathroom, seating area with plentiful fruit, stairs down to the large sleeping area which housed a huge, oh-so comfortable bed, and fine, artistic decor and furnishings. My partner was pleased to find the easy and inclusive internet access which is sometimes lacking in other hotels at this level. We also had our own courtyard but it was too cold outside to fully appreciate it!

I thought the location was perfect and within easy walking distance of all the main attractions....but make sure you bring comfortable shoes - most of the streets are cobbled.

The interior of the hotel might be considered rather over extravagant and over the top but it works, and every corner, or furnishing provides a photo opportunity. An evening in the bar is a must - sit back , relax and drink in the atmosphere in discreet and genteel surroundings.

Breakfasts were sufficient although I\'d recommend that you get there earlier rather than later. We didn\'t try an evening meal in the hotel\'s restaurant but I\'d recommend a well reviewed restaurant round the corner which had excellent, personal service and a huge menu.

Finally, a visit to the Spa is a worthwhile experience. We had the Romance Massage and then tried out the sauna - it was a perfect end to a perfect stay and I am still having withdrawal symptoms.

Arriving at the Alchymist was a breeze having booked the very reasonable hotel driver. We enjoyed a warm welcome and were very pleased with the deluxe room we had booked. It stands up to all expectations - with a giant bed, white bedlinen, separate huge \"hall\" with giant wardrobes and a beautifully appointed bathroom.

The free wine and cheese at 5pm every day was a lovely bonus - although we weren\'t always sure how much wine we were allowed...

Breakast is great - with a huge range of food to choose from. We invariably sloped in fairly late so some of the hot food was a bit dry/ rubbery by 10am.

We didn\'t eat at the hotel in the evening but the receptionist was more than happy to ring around lots of other restaurants to find us somewhere to go which met our taste. Service was always extended with a genuine smile - what a change!

The spa is magical - and although we didn\'t have any treatments I\'m sure they would delight. The underground bridge with fish (you have to see it to understand!) is very very beautiful. The plunge pool is small but with the fountains and bubbles is entertaining for half an hour - the gym (we didn\'t use it) looks great and the sauna was very modern and well maintained.

All in all the Alchymist is worth every penny and is pretty much guarenteed to delight! Thank you and well done to all the staff!

The Alchymist is in a wonderful location in beautiful Prague. Our room was pretty, but not large, with no view. And that was a deluxe room. The bathroom facilities were excellent. The restaurant by any standards is rather expensive, but the selection of dishes and wines is exquisite. If you are celebrating something special, it\'s worth it.
The spa is wonderful and we enjoyed our massage therapies, although the pool is rather small. The gym, also small, is excellently equipped.
The staff were extremely friendly and service was generally good. We did find, however, that breakfast \"hot food\" tended to be on the cold side, that mineral water was not replaced in the room and that the corridor contained trays of food left for around 24 hours.
