Manchester We stayed at the Alchymist for 3 nights and found it to be really wonderful. The spa is beautiful, and treatments are outstanding, we had a double romance massage on the first day and a thai massage on the second which i loved but my boyfriend found a little heavy going. Breakfast is great as is the complimentary evening wine and cheese tasting.
The only drawback and the one thing which would prevent me from booking again is the seriously rock hard mattress on the bed. Such a shame as after a days sightseeing and an evening out it would have been wonderful to fall into bed and feel relaxed, instead it was like sleeping on the world\'s most ornate park bench. A good job the massages are so good.

Illinois After an exhausting trip around Eastern Europe, the Alchymist was a lovely relief. The moment we entered this wonderful hotel, we felt we had \"arrived\". The front desk was fantastic from assisting with dinner reservations, fixing our damaged bag, and providing a warm \"home away from home\". The wine and cheese at 5:30 each evening was such a nice touch, plus the computer availability was handy as well. When we checked out there was a discrepancy with the bill. They had told us when we checked in the breakfast was included in the rate, and then when we checked out they realized our rate did not include breakfast. I gently reminded them of our original discussion and even though the amount was significant, the manager removed the breakfast charges. Very nice. Classy place.

London Happened on Alchymist browsing websites and had a hard time deciding among Prague hotels. The Alchymist is a true gem. A beautiful boutique hotel in an ideal location. Off the beaten path on a quiet cobblestone street (across from the American embassy), but a short walk from Prague Castle or Charles Bridge. Beautiful decor - rare to find a hotel that looks even better than it appears on its website. Walking the city I stopped by most of the other hotels I\'d considered: Pariz, Savoy, Belleveue, Riverside, etc. and concluded I\'d lucked out with the Alchymist.

Oxfordshire We were picked up by the hotel jeep, which was an excellent start to our weekend. The hotel itself is beautiful the decor very \'OTT\' but it works. We had a deluxe room that was also beautiful, four poster bed, luxury robes, towels and spotlessly clean. Everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel.
I have only two minor gripes with the hotel which I really do not understand why the hotel does what it does
1. Why give complimentary water for the first day only. If you have an empty bottle when the cleaners come the following day why not replace it. When I rang down to Reception to comment that the water had not been changed I was told that only one bottle was complimentary on arrival and a replacement would be 90crowns (£2.25). I accepted this and ordered a bottle, when room service came with a new bottle the bill was for 280crowns (£7.00). I can never remember in all the hotels I have stayed in paying £7.00 for a bottle of water. When I questioned it with the Receptionist he said that he had made a mistake with the original price quoted and the price would be 280crowns (a very take it or leave attitude). So I cancelled the order.
2. On arrival in your room there are beautiful thick bath towels. When the room is cleaned the following day the towels are replaced with small, thin towels. Why!!
I know these points are very minor but it could make an excellent hotel into a perfect hotel for very little effort.
Prague itself is one of the most beautiful cities you could possibily visit. Do try the old vintage car tours they are great fun and cost about £30.00 for approx an hour, well worth it.
Great restaurant to try Hergetova Cihelna Restaurant & Bar, Cihelná 2b, Mala Strana. It\'s right on the river and about 10 mintues walk from the hotel.
All in all, a great weekend!!
