Phila There have already been some very positive reviews written about this hotel and now that I have stayed there for 4 nights, I can confirm that these reports accurately depict the hotel.
Both the interior and exterior were gorgeous. The breakfast was excellent. Wine and Cheese hour (5:30 to 6:30) was great. The compuer center had 2 computers and every room is wired. The service at the hotel is excellent and the gym facilities are nice. The hotel is on the quieter side of the river (near Prague Castle), yet is 5 minutes from the Charles Bridge.
The only negative was that the acoustics (at least in our room) were not great. We could hear the television in the room behind us and unfortunately, they would keep the television on every night until 12:30 am. We complained one of the evenings and the front desk sent a person to ask them them to turn the volume down. The volume was lower on subsequent nights, but we could still hear the volume. If you are a light sleeper and you get a TV watcher in the next room, this could be a problem.
Prague is a great city to visit, though not as inexpensive as you would think. There were a lot of excellent restaurants close to the hotel. We went to Cowboys (Steaks), Hergetova Cihelina (on the water) which were excellent. On the same street as the hotel, we tried Gitanes, which has Serbian food. Above average, great value. The only restaurant we were disappointed in was Kampa Park. Great view on the river, but a rip off at $30 to $50 per entree, in my opinion.
We loved the Jewish quarter (paid 20 euro to enter the 6 synagogues, which was worthwhile) and we loved the center of the old town. We ate at Le Cafe Colonial for lunch in the Jewish quarter and it was excellent.
We were disappointed in Prague Castle. The castle itself is empty and the Golden Lane is a big nothing. Worth going for the views, to enter the cathedral (free) and to see the changing of the guard, but i personally would not bother paying 20 euro for the ticket to go in the other buildings.
I believe 2 and a half days is all that is needed to see Prague itself. We also took a daytrip to Dresden. From the hotel, you can take the #9 tram to the train station and a roundtrip ticket to Dresden is 50 euro. We took the 8:15 am train and returned on the 5:09. The ride is 2 1/2 hours. It is a long day and you don\'t have an enormous amount of time in Dresden, but we felt it was well worth the effort as Dresden is fascinating. Saw the Green Vault and ate an amazing lunch at the Grand Cafe (in the Caselpalais, right across from the Freduenrishe (spelling?), the recently renovated church in the center of the Old Town. Best apple streudel you will ever taste.

Europe What a find! This hotel is newly renovated and not listed on most other sites. The hotel is beautiful, the spa is a mixture of roman bath and asian-inspired serenity, the staff pleasant and helpful. Breakfast , as well as wine and cheese each evening ,were also lovely. A truly 5-star boutique hotel experience. We also loved the location on a quiet street but close to everything, including quite a few good neighborhood restaurants.

Portsmouth A beautiful place to stay and with an excellent location, but what made our stay was the attitude of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was friendly and they just did that little bit extra to make a birthday celebration extra special. Would definitely go back again

Odense It is hard to imagine a better place to stay in magical Prague. We arrived very tired after our wedding, and this hotel was the perfect place to rest and savour the wonderful memories.
The staff was very professional and friendly all the way through, and the service was without question of the highest standard.
We must also highlight the interior: No matter where you looked it was a unique experience--the combination of original 1600-styled architecture mixed with the very personal, gaudy style is definitely unparalleled. But the amazing thing is: It works! You must see it in person to truly appreciate what we\'re talking about here.
We loved our room (could hardly leave it!), appreciated the delicious, homemade prailines laid on the bed every day, and can only recommend sleeping in a four-poster bed. Pure royalty!
Take a look in the basement while you\'re there--it\'s a world of its own. Even if you do not plan to receive the deeply satisfying and very qualified massages (we had a balinesian massage for couples--highly recommendable) or use the spa etc., the exotic Indonesian style everywhere is worth your time.
The breakfast buffet was varied and really yummy. So was the dinner food, but one thing that may be worth mentioning is that the sea bass we had at the Aquarius Restaurant was a little bit boring for our taste. However--we come from a sea nation, so we probably have special expectations; so we won\'t hold that against them;-) It is probably good advice not to order fish in a country without a coastline.
Another important thing is the central, yet quiet, location. It\'s in the Embassy District (Mala Stranska) and only five minutes walk to the Charles Bridge. A very lovely part of the city.
A vision of the owner is that the Alchymist should not only be a hotel but a home for the guests; we can only say that we had exactly that experience while staying there. Thanks!
