Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

After a four night stay at the Alchymist, I can see what all the rave reviews were about. I heartily recommend this quirky little hotel. The location is perfect. You can easily walk to the Charles Bridge, but you don\'t have to live in the hubbub around that famous tourist attraction. The hotel is right across the street from the American Embassy, so it is perfectly safe and in an excellent neighborhood. The staff is extremely (underlined) helpful and the kitchen is just perfect. The rooms were decorated in entertaining ways, so you definitely knew you weren\'t in some cookie cutter Intercontinental, Marriott, Hilton or other such plain jane type of hotel. This is the perfect place to hang your hat when staying in Prague.

We stayed at the Alchymist for 4 nights and loved the hotel. It is a small boutique type hotel with a great location and beautifully appointed. It is close to the center but far enough away that you are not in the middle of all the crowds and loved coming back there each day to the calm atmosphere and the complimentary cheese and wine set out every evening in one of their sitting areas.

The staff was very accommodating. When we first arrived, they were not quite ready, so had us sit in their in waiting area and gave us a glass of champagne. Their recommendations for dinner where right on. They also have a beautiful spa area.

I hate to complain about anything because the hotel was wonderful and we would definitely stay there again. But, feel we must when it comes to our room which was located where the roof slanted so the area on one side of the bed where the desk safe, and TV were was a little hazardous. You really had to watch yourself to make sure you didn\'t hit your head on the beams (which we both did). We are used to getting small rooms in Europe so that didn\'t bother us it was just that with the beams and slant it made the room even smaller and confining. We asked to change but they were completely full. If we return to Prague we will stay there but make sure that we do not have a room on the slanted side (we were in room 314).
