Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

My girlfriend organized a surprise weekend in Prague for our 3 year anniversary (i know i should been the one organizing it but i\'ll get my own back on her!!). She booked us into the Andel hotel which is situated on the West side off the river, very close to the Andel underground station (15minutes into old town) and tram stops into town and even more importantly close to the Staropramen Brewery (10min walk).

The hotel itself is one of the best hotels i stayed in throughout Europe. Very modern layout (not ideal for people who prefer the older classical hotel feel). The staff were helpful and polite and the rooms were fantastic, with superb bathroom facilities. All the usual included - TV, mini-bar, iron etc... the hotel bar was very good, very helpful and generous staff again - great cigar selection. We only had breakfast at the hotel (eated out at all other meal times) but what a selection!!! Cooked breakfast (bacon, eggs, etc..) alongside a fantastic selection of local cheeses and meats.

Would definatly go and stay here again if visiting Prague again. Although i never knew how much it cost, apparently it was fantastic value for a very smart, modern hotel.

just spent a great weekend at andels hotel. this hotel as the lot . decor ,service,bar,food,ambience,all 5 star.this hotel is away from the main tourist trap areas but as everything around what you need.i.e tram&metro just round the corner.3 stops on metro to mustec takes you the heart of the tourist area (wenceslas square) takes 8 minutes.or take no 12 tram to charles square get off here for charles bridge this takes 6 minutes or for those that do not mind walking it will take approx 25 miutes to both these places all in all great base for a trip for prague.would def, reccomend

Stayed in Andels for three nights and after reading all the other reviews I am left wondering did I stay in the same hotel ?
The hotel is very modern and very clean but does feel rather cold and clinical.....a bit like the staff who I have to say weren\'t the friendliest bunch of people I\'d ever met. But on the plus side the rooms were very well designed, extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean.
However the hotel\'s amenities are lacking from a leisure point of view. The fitness centre is very small and really not worth bothering about. The hotel bar and restaurant are totally devoid of any atmosphere (the word morgue comes to mind), and were always empty.
The beakfast was overall very disappointing..the selection of fruit, yoghurt and cereal was very good but the standard of the hot food, tea and coffee was dreadful.
Although the public transport links to the city centre are very good the location isn\'t great for a weekend break.
