Belfast, Ireland Have just returned from a 4 night stay in the Esplanade . Its a lovely hotel - grand, opulent, spotlessly clean, warm, inviting, spacious room, delicious food and the staff are friendly and speak very good English.
On arrival our room had lovely touches - robes, slippers and the beds were turned down immaculately. The breakfast room was so ornate, you could have spent the whole time staring at the decor and not eating! The choice of food was very good and the staff serving were obliging and informed (albeit a bit brusque, but thats czech people in general).
The location is near to Wenceslas Square but further from the old town - which isnt a big problem if you like walking. All in all, its a great hotel that I would recommend it to anyone wanting to relax in total comfort.

Lisa Just arrived home after a two night stay at the Esplanade which is a very nice hotel but certainly not 5 star (in fact I would rate it as 3+).
We upgraded to a suite which really was not worth the extra cost. The reason for this is that although we had more space and it was absolutely spotless, the cost of break fast was included in our stay. When we asked for breakfast to be brought to the room they would not allow us to just pay a charge for room service but said we would have to pay for the break fast again. It was therefore pretty pointless to have a dining table and chairs.
The Hotel is very quiet with no entertainment at all, drinks in the hotel were expensive.
Staff were really friendly and helpful and the location is great.

Wiltshire I found the hotel staff to be extremely helpful and courteous with an excellent command of English. They were very quick to rectify my bill when I was charged for something I didn\'t have. My twin bedded room was very clean, although the beds were so close together they were almost a double which would not have been particularly acceptable if I had been travelling with someone other than a family member. There were no beverage making facilities in the room which was disappointing and the room was very basic, lacking any information on the city of Prague or any other information which would have been useful to peruse while in the room.
I was very disappointed with the breakfast which was very unimaginative.
I would agree with the other traveller\'s comments about the taxi from the hotel, it was 150kc more expensive to return to the airport, I was also disappointed to be charged for a slice of lemon (which I actually didn\'t have, but when I examined my bill I couldn\'t remember whether I had one or not, but apparently you get charged if you have a slice of lemon in a drink or as part of your meal - a little excessive).
Having said all that, it was a lovely couple of days stay and I would return as it is well placed for the centre of Prague.

Rachel Lovely, quiet hotel, situated in a good location for exploring. Staff were friendly and attentive. The main lobby area (away from reception) is attractive and the basement bar gives a \'local\' feel - though incredibly quiet the nights we were there.
While plenty nice for our visit, I wouldn\'t rate this hotel as five star. It is definately more a 4 star hotel as there were not the usual extras you expect from a 5 star i.e. turn down at night did not include chocolates or flowers, bathroom toiletries were limited to one shampoo and one body gel. Anything else you had to pay for if you required. Also breakfast was very basic, cheese, ham, eggs etc. Nothing special considering it\'s 5 star status.
Having said that, it is still a very nice hotel. However, if you are looking for something plush and luxurious than I am not sure this would be your answer.

Ireland I would just like to say that I have just returned from a wonderful 3 day trip to Prague and my friends and I would like to say that the Hotel Espanade is fantastic. The staff were friendly and helpful in so many ways. The location is great as you are just a short walk from Wenclesas square which leads on to the old town square. We had a triple room and it was very big and airy with lots of wardrobe space, the bathroom had a great shower and bath. We had no noise from corridors or from outside. The food in the hotel was superb, a great selection for breakfast delighted to find that they had a hot buffet of bacon eggs etc. We had lunch there on the day we arrived and dinner on the last evening again the food and wine were superb. All in all we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Prague.
