Ramada Grand Hotel Symphony

Suisse

Cette hôtel est vraiment très bien situé, sur la place Wanceslas juste à 300m du musée. Le service est très bon, la qualité des chambres aussi. En 4 mots, je vous le conseil!

Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom

We stayed at this hotel for four nights in Nov 07. The hotel is good, the rooms large, clean, well heated (air cond unit you control the temp hot/cold) with lovely bathrooms (no bath, just shower cubicle). Mini bar was well stocked, however really over priced!! We didn\'t use anything from the mini bar, but found the fridge useful. There are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, you have to order that from room service, at a charge. Each room has a safe with the key available from reception at no extra cost. There is a hairdryer in the bathroom, which was good and you need to take a two pin adaptor if you are taking tongs/straighteners. Iron/Ironing board is available from reception.

Breakfast was nothing special, but edible. The usual breads, fruit, meats, salads, cereal, pastries and some scrambled eggs, beans, sausage (hotdog) and bacon. The staff were OK, they were polite enough if you asked them for anything and if not, they left you alone.

The hotel is located right in the centre of Wenseslas Square, ideal for sightseeing, train stations, trams and underground. There are a few bars around the hotel area, however these are expensive compared with some of the local bars in the smaller streets on each side of the square (prices for local beers ranged from 25-75 Kc per pint). There are a couple of good irish bars, which do excellent food. Rocky O\'Reilleys and Shamrocks which are both only a very short walk from the hotel.

Everywhere you go they warn you about the Taxi\'s, we pre-booked ours to and from the airport and had no problems. Also don\'t exhange money in the street - it\'s ilegal and the Police can throw you in jail for 48 hours with the British Embassy unable to assit during these 48 hours. Likewise if you are drunken or roudy at night.

The bars/restaurants in the old town square were lovely, especially at night. If you could get seated under a patio heater that is! Probably a little more on the expensive side, but lovely atmosphere and a great place to people watch.
The bars over the bridge by the castle were really good too and I recommend you go over there one night for a real taste of local food and beer.

There is a lot to see/do in Prague, however I would not recommend going there at the weekend, unless you want to \'party\' hard. We were there Mon to Friday, travelled home Friday night and were glad we did, the stag parties and roudy UK all male groups started to appear on Thursday night, much to the embarrassment of the rest of us UK citizens. Although Prague does cater for these \'type\' of visitors as there is a vast amount of \'cabaret\' shows and strip clubs!!! So what do they expect.

Three days would be enough to see the main sights, longer if you wanted to explore further afield. Would I recommend the Ramada Grand Hotel? YES - Would I recommend Prague? Not on a weekend unless you are there for stag/hen party.

Malta

My wife and I stayed at this hotel from the 19th to the 26th of September 2007. If you want to stay in Prague this is an excellent choice. This hotel is situated in the middle of Wenceslas Square, a very famous square full of hotels, cafes and high street names. We toured Prague on foot. Old Town Square is about 5 mins far, there is a Tesco 7 mins away. 50 mtrs up or down the Wenceslas Square (from the hotel) there are 2 metro stations. All attractions are within easy reach (Charles Bridge 10 mins, Castle 35 mins). Anyway trams are also very close.

Now something about the hotel. Hotel is a 4* and it really is. Room 602 was on the top floor. Noise was minimal (double glazed windows). Bed was fine. TV ok although only english-speaking channels were BBC and CNN. Bathroom was excellent with shower & hot water. Floor was heated. Telephone and safe deposit, minibar also in room. On 1st night a/c was not working. Next morning we phoned reception who immediately came to check. He told us that during the day there were going to fix it. When we arrived in the evening, this was still not working, so I phoned again. 5 mins later a staff came with a portable electric heater. I consider this as very good service (to improvise). Next day proper room a/c was working fine. Breakfast was also ok with a variety of food. Only minus is scrambled eggs (not well cooked). Variety of bread, croissants, dairy products, sausages, etc. All in all it was OK.

Just a small tip if you are travelling to Prague. There are 2 very nice and beautiful places (outside Prague) where you can easily and cheaply go to. These are CESKY KRUMLOV (a lovely quaint little village by the river) and KARLOVY VARY (world famous for its spas - there is the Grand Hotel PUPP which featured in the movie \"Last Holiday\" (Queen Latifah). CK is about 3hrs by bus (to go), while KV 2 hrs but they are really worth a visit. You have to take the metro to FLORENC stop, get up from the underground and ask at the bus station for the tickets. It is really much cheaper than taking a tour from the hotel.

I will definitely recommend for a stay in lovely Prague. This hotel is so central to everything!! Book and you will not be disappointed.

Aberdeenshire, Scotland

Nice hotel. Location was OK, but, if I was to return to Prague, I would look for a hotel that was nearer to the Old Town Square/Charles Bridge area.

edinburgh

This hotel was lovely and clean. Breakfast was good although service was slow at times. Great central location for walking round the shops and it was only 5 mins walk from the Old Town Square.
