UK We stayed here in August 2004 and as the photographs show, our room was spacious and very pleasant. In fact we have just booked to stay again in March 2005.
The location of the hotel is ideal for exploring the historic heart of the city. It is just a few minutes walk to the Charles Bridge and within easy reach of the market place. St Nicholas Church in the Old Town Square is very close and was one of the highlights of our visits. The interior is breathtaking.
Our room as very clean, with a well appointed bathroom which was in good repair. No sign of the spiders that a previous review mentioned. Despite being there in the summer, we did not find the lack of air conditioning a problem, as the room had plenty of windows to keep air circulating and the street outside did not have much passing traffic on it. Our only criticism was that we were woken by early morning deliveries to the bar opposite, but only briefly.
Breakfast is served in a cosy hall. As the hotel is a former armoury, the hall is filled with suits of armour, wooden horses used by knights for training and other historic artefacts, which makes it an interesting experience. The pianist providing background music gives breakfast a touch of elegance, while the quality and choice of food are both very good.
We booked transfers from the airport to the hotel through Prague Airport Shuttle on the internet. The company is run by Chris, a very friendly and helpful American. It cost less than a taxi transfer, and we were met by a representative from the company with our name on a board, which made us feel like VIP’s. We would recommend this service and the Hotel Kampa for a stress free break in the city.

Scotland My husband and I spent four days in December in Prague, staying at Best Western Hotel Kampa. This was a surprise trip for my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I wrote to the hotel requesting a nice room overlooking the park and asked for a bottle of chamagne for us on arrival. I received a letter back from the hotel telling me that they would provide the champagne free of charge. My husband and I were very pleased with our room and found all of the staff very helpful. Breakfast is excellent and surroundings interesting, if a bit quirky. The hotel is in a great location being only a 5 minute walk from Charles Bridge. The bar/restuarant across from the hotel, \"bar bar\" serves excellent food and is also very cheap. There is lots to do and see in Prague and we wish we had had longer than 4 days. It was a lovely time of year to go, not being too busy, and lots of Christmas markets. We both had a fantastic break in Prague and plan to visit again soon.

UK I just returned from Prague and the Hotel Kampa. At first glance I could tell it needed some redecorating and updating. Also the staff at the front desk did not seem to speak English well...or understand it. As a result...they were no help with tour planning, restaurants etc. I expected more from a 4 star hotel. I think Best Western better get to work. You could do better at other hotels in Prague.

Oakland We were sent to this hotel because the Mala Strana double booked us. So after 14 hours of flying we finally get to the hotel Kampa. The first room they put us in was great. At first Fairly large nice and airy. Then my wife noticed a coulple of spiders, then we noticed a few more. As we started to really look around we noticed the room had spiders all over it. The final straw was when my wife sat on the bed and she saw several crawling on the bed. We went back down stairs and told the manager what had happened. The bell boy was telling him the same. He looked at us like we were crazy. Do a couple of spiders bug you?? he asked. I told him they need to get a fumigater in ther to get rid of all the spiders. After a small argument he gave us another room. Broom closet would be an understatement. We barely could fit our bagage in the room. There were no spiders in that room. Finally we got to sleep. Next morning we had there excellet buffet breakfast. The serving hall is awesome. I went back and talked to the same manager about finding a bigger room. He was very nasty and said there was nothing available. I noticed the new manager coming on duty. I waited until the other manager left and told the new manager what had happened the night before and how displeased we are witht the hotel. Right away he moved us to a very nice room. For the rest of our visit we were very pleased. The highlight of the Hotel is the breakfast area. This is something to see if you are into midevil times.

Dublin , Ireland Very disappointed as I expected a lot more from a four star. It was in a lovely quite area about 20 minutes walk to the main square. The first problem we had was that there was no air-conditioning. The staff were very nice and gave us a fan for our room. But I would not recommend this hotel in the hot weather! The pillows were also very flat but we got extra ones.
I expected a lot from this hotel as the room charge for a double was very high. The rooms were very basic and not very large!
All in all I would recommend that you look for a hotel closer and also one that has air-conditioners!
P.S. Prague is a beautiful city and well worth the trip!
