Birmingham, United Kingdom A nice little hotel but as other reviews have said it is a little out of the way. Buses are frequent so this is not so much of a problem. Otherwise it is about a 20-25 minute stroll through Kinsky Garden which is very pleasant but can be hard work as there are some very steep areas.
Staff were polite and very helpful and all the reception staff I encountered spoke excellent English. The hotel is very clean and the room was a reasonable size. Only real complaint was that there was no shower curtain which led to the bathroom floor getting very wet.

UK A very resonably priced hotel but rather too far from the city to walk. Surounding roads rather steep. Breakfast was fair but the staff are friendly and helpful.
Forget the taxi\'s as most of them are dishonest. The hotel is well served by an excellent bus service which links to the metro. Buy a day pass.
The city is lovelly, but eat and drink off the main drag if you want quality and value for money.

UK This small family-run hotel sits atop a very high hill, overlooking Prague city centre, in an affluent redidential district.
It can be reached, without a car, by funicular followed by 10 minutes walk through the adjacent Kinsky park (very picturesque in daylight: frankly scary in the dark) or by number 176 bus from city centre (my recommendation - very frequent service) or by pufing up the steep hill on foot. I don\'t know how long this takes, but it\'s 20 minutes to the centre going downhill on foot.
The restaurant is reasonably priced and food is good.
My room was big and satellite tv worked OK.
Only three complaints: I couldn\'t turn off the lights from my bed, room safe didn\'t work and my bed was a bit lumpy.
Staff are friendly and helpful.
If you are going for a stag weekend (batchelor party) you will have to use taxis to get back late at night. This is a problem in Prague, apparently, as the taxi drivers are famous for driving all over the city to bump up fares and also for rigging taxi meters.
If, however, you want somewhere decent to stay, far from the mad parties in the centre, with a restaurant and bar in case you don\'t want to go out late some evening, this is the place for you.
Oh, and it\'s two doors down from the Saudi embassy, if you need it during your stay.

New Zealand The Hotel Vanicek is a little out of the way but accessible to Old Prague by the funicula in the park below. A very nice value for money hotel but watch the taxi drivers overcharging!
