I moved to this hotel after spending one night in a terrible hotel outside of town. This was truly a breath of fresh air and my stay in Prague was made all the more special by finding this hotel.
From the moment you arrive at the reception desk you have a good feeling about the whole place and you won\'t be dissapointed. The rooms are wonderful, having good quality pieces of furniture in them, plenty of storage space, and are light, airy and peaceful.
The location of this hotel enables you to explore the city of Prague from a very central base, being only a two minute walk to the Old Town square, and equally a two minute walk to Wensleslass Square.
I would return to this beautiful city again and would again stay at the Melantrich Hotel which truly is a little gem

Appreciation depends on the expectations. Obviously the hotel can\'t live up with a modern 4 or 5 star hotel, but for the price we paid at such a location, it is excellent value for money and we would certainly return here for a next Prague trip. The hotel is literally only a few steps away from the Old Town Square and clock tower, but is only half the price of other hotels in the historical center. Our room was small but clean, but with no view. As described by another reviewer, the entrance is a bit weird. The breakfast room is very small, so can be difficult to find a place at peak moments.

The first night I was in Prague, I stayed at a real dump of a hostel....that was all I could stand! I got up early and went looking for another place to stay, and came across the Hotel Melantrich. I went inside and asked the very nice man behind the counter if there was a room available for the next three nights. He said yes and checked me into the hotel, I went upstairs to my room, and when I went inside, I was very pleasantly rewarded with a wonderful room, with a great view of the streets below, and an extremely comfortable bed! There was a great shower, plenty of room, and cable tv. It was exactly what I wanted to find, and I was so happy to stay there the rest of my trip to Prague. I HIGHLY reccomend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in a fantastic location!!

We stayed 3 nights here and liked the hotel.
Pros: The location is great! About 2 blocks from Old Town Square and about a 10 minute walk to Charles Bridge. Our room was nice, large (for a European hotel), and virtually new. Bathroom was large and nice.
Everything very clean. The continental breakfast was good. Sliced meats, cheeses, granola, juices, breads, coffee, tea, etc. Staff was friendly and spoke English well.
Cons: The entrance to the hotel is a little weird in that it also serves as the entrance to a disco/restaurant. You can hear a little of the music at night and if you keep your windows open there\'s also street noise (mostly people talking) during the night. When you walk in to the inner hotel entrance, there\'s a drab dingy set of stairs to walk up to the hotel lobby area.
