Concord, New Hampshire I stayed at the Hotel Petr from May 10th to May 17th. I had contacted the hotel ahead of time and they sent a driver to pick me and my wife up for about 600kc or roughly $30 US. The driver was friendly and holding a sign with my name on it. He loaded our luggage and drove to the hotel telling us interesting facts and tidbits about Prague. Upon arriving, we found out our room was ready before checkin time and we were shown to our room which was larger than I anticpated for a small hotel in Europe. There was a bed, TV stand, couch and a desk with a chair, a large bathroom with shower only and a small entrance area with several closets and a safe.
The lobby was clean, and since the hotel does allow smoking almost everywhere in the hotel it did smell like cigarettes, but I found that in Prague most places have smoking everywhere so it is common.
The front desk sold a variety of crystal, maps, beer, wine, and other convenience items and offered to book concerts tours etc.
The staff was very helpful and polite and spoke good english.
There is also a small bar area to have a drink in, but it is not a full service bar, you just pay the front desk and drink. In the bar area there is a computer that you can use to check your email.
They set up a breakfast buffet in the morning I believe from 7am to 10am. There is juice, coffee, water, cold cuts, cheese, fresh bread, cereal and fruit. It is not an American style breakfast with eggs and cooked meat etc. The food was tasty and a good start to the day.
The hotel is staffed 24 hours a day and you have to be buzzed in by the front desk to get into the hotel.
The hotel is located in the Smichov district which appeared to be a working class neighborhood. The closest hotel I saw was Kinsky Gardens. Other than that there are small local shops and plenty of bars and pubs as well as a huge shopping mall with a Tesco (like a walmart) that is convenient for picking up things you forgot to bring.
It was about a 5 minute tram ride or a 10 minute walk to get to the touristy areas, and it appeared to be a safe area as well.

UK I stayed at Petr one night right before New Year\'s Eve, as it had the best rate I could find then, around 2600 kc for a single room. The location is not in the heart of the tourist district, which is a good thing and a bad thing, though one could still walk to the Charles Bridge, etc., in about 20 minutes, and the tram is right at the corner. The decor is old-fashioned and the lift is actually a retrofit and was installed in back on the OUTSIDE of the building. In general, I don\'t think Prague provides value for money in housing, so this was no better or no worse than much of what one can get. One plus was a very nice breakfast buffet. Another plus was that it is about 5-10 minutes walk to the huge shopping mall with the Carrefour store, etc. I also found the desk clerk there (who was on duty even when I had to check out at 8 am) more friendly than the average Czech in the hospitality sector.
