Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

Wow, did I stay at the same Hotel Josef as everyone else? The location is outstanding, just a few blocks from Old Town Square, but that is the ONLY good thing I can say about this hotel.

This hotel is known for it\'s modern architecture and stunning decor. Well, the hotel is certainly uber modern...if modern means uncomfortably small plastic furniture, white walls, and huge bills!

We arrived on June 1st and stayed for 4 nights. We booked one of the Superior rooms, known for their all glass bathrooms. Well, the bathroom is barely big enough to brush your teeth in! We requested a King size bed, which allowed us approximately 24 inches around the perimeter of the bed to move. There is no closet or dresser in the room, so we needed to \"live out of\" our suitcase. With so little floor space, we were constantly tripping over each other and the suitcase.

The lights and ac only work when you are in the room (you need to insert your key into a slot in the wall). Our air conditioning barely worked, we were so hot the first night we couldn\'t sleep!

The room included breakfast, it was a cold buffet plus a few hot dishes that could be ordered from a menu. Generally, service was extremely slow. Several times, we simply never received what we ordered.

The staff is very attractive, but much more interested in flirting with each other than offering service to guests.

For all this we had the pleasure of paying over $300US!

I stayed at the Hotel Josef for a week with my mother during a birthday trip to Prague for us both. I travel frequently and have stayed in many very fine hotels, but I don\'t think I have ever received better service. The staff not only accommodated our request for a room \"right away\" when we arrived (tired and in need of a shower off our redeye), but my mother received a free upgrade to a top floor suite. Perhaps because I didn\'t get the upgrade, I received a complimentary fruit basket in my room every day. On my birthday (which the staff were only aware of because we asked them to make us a dinner reservation), complimentary strawberries and champagne were delivered to my room along with a birthday card from the staff. The concierge gave uniformly excellent restaurant recommendations, and arranged both a private guided tour of Prague Castle and a day trip to Kutna Hora. In general, the rooms were stylish, modern, clean, and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet was truly excellent (I could have eaten that meal alone each day and not been hungry). Overall, I cannot recommend Hotel Josef more highly.

I stayed at Hotel Josef last summer for 4 nights and thought it was simply fantastic! Our room was great, the design superb. The staff was very helpful and nice. What I enjoyed the most was the breakfast… it was splendid and you could have it on the patio, which was very nice. I highly recommend this hotel!
