Hotel Josef

Maesteg, Wales

An excellent hotel in a great location. Close to the old town square via a series walkways which are lit by a gas lamp style at night, but are very safe. The hotel is ultra modern with a minimalist appearance using glass and colour to give a functional and stylish room. If you like Habitat and Ikea furniture and the fuss free image of an Ice type hotel, this is for you! Great breakfasts too, eat as much smoked salmon and scrambled eggs as you want. (Buffet selection) Recommended!

Toronto

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in early October and had a very good experience. My room, with a walk-out balcony, was on the 8th floor of the Pink House. The room was well-equipped, including a heated bathroom floor. Location is excellent - walking distance to most major sights, including the Charles Bridge. I do not understand why one of the reviewers was concerned about the street - since that is the character of Old Town Prague! Actually, there is a police station adjacent to the hotel and I had no concerns walking to the hotel late in the evening. If you are looking for a hotel located where the hordes of tourists are, then this is not the hotel for you. Very pleasant and a helpful staff. The buffet breakfast is complete and they also have a small fitness gym. In addition, they provide for free internet access in their business centre. The only suggestion I have for management is that the carpets appear worn and tired. Nevertheless, I would definitely stay at the Hotel Josef again.

Scotland

Have returned from four nights staying at the Josef. Excellent hotel in what I considered to be an ideal location with numerous bars and restaurants close to hand. Standard room was more than adequate on seventh floor with a small walkout balcony overlooking courtyard. All of the staff were helpful. I was slightly concerned prior to departure to read a couple of posts regarding the \"dodgy\" street. While we all have our own opinions and measures of \"dodgy\" I found the surrounding area and streets leading to the hotel to be perfectly safe with no apparent threat even when returning late in the evening. The area reflect the attraction of the Old Town/Josefov with narrow winding streets totally different from the Wenceslas Square area which I found tacky in comparison.

Bruxelles

I\'ve just spent three nights staying at the Josef and was hugely impressed. Stylish, efficient, conveniently located and good value. As other reviews have stated, breakfasts are very good. Unlike other reviews however, I did not find staff indifferent, and all I spoke to had good english. For that matter, I did not think that the location was in any way dodgy. Hotel reception suggested turning right onto Dlouha which was a short stroll along a well lit street to either Revolucni or the Old Town Square.

I would not hesitate in recommending the Josef and will if at all possible stay there again soon. Also highly recommended is the Nostress cafe, just opposite the Spanish synagogue, for excellent food and on Saturday nights, excellent live jazz from Elin & her band.

Irvine, CA

I agree wih the other posts here. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a week while on our honeymoon in Prague and absolutely LOVED it. The bedrooms were small, but the beds were so comfortable and the bathrooms very chic and clean. The breakfasts were amazing--you can order omelettes, pancakes, hot chocolate, great fruit, almost anything you want and it is served until 11:30. The service is impeccable as well--everyone is very attentive. This hotel made our trip to Prague unforgettable. 5 stars all the way!
