Hotel Ruze

philadelphia, pa

This hotel pruports to be a 5 star hotel- IT IS NOT. It is clean, has some nice appointments, but is otherwise rather kitschy and overpriced. The lobby bar was not open the whole weekend were there, and we had to beg for a courtesy van to get our luggage to the bus station. The staff was not professional. The room we stayed in was large, and had two bathrooms, but one had a smell emanating from it that was so horrible, it was unusable. There was not a comfortable place to sit. The town of Krumlov is BEAUTIFUL, I recommend going and staying elsewhere.

Atlanta

This is NOT a 5 star hotel. It is dark/gloomy with extremely religious furnishings. It is not on the city square and is up a hill. The front desk clerk barely spoke English and was the cocktail waitress in addition to also monitoring security cameras. You had to use a portable fan to more the air around in the room. As for having a view from the room, the window is small and high. Do not stay here. There were many

Dallas, Texas

We took a $3USD bus ride from Prague to Cesky Krumlov, but we stayed in the what is claimed to be the finest hotel in town. If you do this, don\'t forget to call the hotel from the bus stop to get their private transport to the hotel, we didn\'t have the info handy at the time and hoofed it. Not a bad walk, it gives a perspective of how cozy the town is. Anyway, back to the hotel, we had the double deluxe suite at off-season rates and had an incredible view of the castle tower and surroundings from any one of our three windows! We wanted the presidential suite, but it wasn\'t available at the time. The double deluxe is awesome, basically three separate rooms, a bedroom, a sitting room, and a bath/shower off of the entrance foyer. Loads of room to stretch out.
Adjacent to the town square, across the street from a popular tourist photo overlook, and nearly across the street from the local historical museum. All of this, well worth the location. Staff was friendly, although not gushing friendly as might be expected from a place of this caliber. The interior itself is a treat for the eyes, nicely redecortated or restored from its prior life as a Jesuit monastery, the only drawback is the use of flourescent bulbs in light fixtures, which doesn\'t seem to fit the feel of the place, making it too \'glowy\'.
Had an incredible dinner in the restaurant for an anniversary event, great service, immaculate food (no pun intended). Great breakfast included too. I suppose it would also be really nice in the summer months to be able to take advantage of the terrace overlooking the Vltava river below on the back side of the hotel, although not that inviting in the off-season winter.
Great place, if you are used to staying at finer hotels, make sure to book this one, it will not disappoint.

Chicago, Illinois

We stayed at this historic Hotel Ruze based on other TripAdvisor reviews. They must fill up early in the summer, because we could only get 1 night when booking three months in advance, but wanted the experience of staying here. We weren\'t disappointed.

Our jaws dropped when we first saw this hotel on the very narrow streets of historic and old, old Cesky Krumlov. The Ruze is in a beautiful location, right on a small river and next to a bridge, and on streets that are filled with small shops and restaurants. Everything about the hotel says \"old and historic\", including the lobby, the halls, the sitting rooms, the furnishing, the woodwork, and especially the rooms. Our room was larger than what we expected, and definitely gives you the feeling of the era. Not all that comfortable, but old. No air conditioning, of course, but the windows open and a fan was provided.

The hotel restaurant was outstanding, in a grand dining room, and the food was excellent.

English is spoken. Parking is available at extra charge in a small lot nearby.

We recommend this hotel for a memorable experience in a memorable town.

New York

I have made appropriate arrangements to book my wedding ceremony and reception in the hotel a year in advance. I got all the confirmations, booked photographer, music, sent out the invitations, flew over to finalize everything with the staff only to find out that they added another party to my venue. They added party of 300 people to my party of 100 people. They downgraded my bookings (1 room instead of 3) and nobody apologized. This hotel claims to be a five star hotel, but it\'s more like 1. Nobody apologized or try to compensate me and my future husband for all the hassle and expenses we have had. Bottom line-wedding is canceled and we have to start all over. I feel especially bitter about the fact that nobody stepped up to take responsibility. The hotel manager promised to sort things out (never heard form her again) the hotel owner promised to look into things (never heard from him again) and the women who booked both of these parties for the same premises (while she knew we all cannot fit) has refused to talk to us.

Its seems to me that Hotel Ruze is more interested in making an extra buck rather than honor my wedding reservation.

I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
