Apartments Masna (studio for 2 guests/max4.)

wexford

Having reviewed trip advisor extensively for our trip to Prague, we decided to go with Residence Masna. On the plus side, the beds and pillows were very comfortable, the apartment was spacious and the location was great (just a couple of mins walk from the old town square). The only really negative thing I can say is that the grouting in the shower was showing signs of mould and the toilet has a build up also. However, other than that the bathroom was very clean. There was also no view from our room (number 502) but it was very peaceful and quiet. We did have to pay for taxi transfers even though it said on the website that if you stayed for more than 3 nights these were free. Seemingly you must also spend a certain amount of money which is not mentioned on the website. The receptionists were nice but very reserved and there was free internet access available in the reception. Overall, this apartment suited us very well as we liked the ability to cook for ourselves and the space to slob out. I think it would suit families better than hotel rooms because of the extra space and self catering facilities.

West Coast, USA

The Masna Apartments were great! We stayed in a studio apartment which was much larger than any of the other hotel rooms we stayed in in other cities and was plenty for the two of us. It was very clean and everything seemed new. The kitchenette was perfect for our needs. There is a grocery store nearby at which we bought stuff to make our own breakfasts in the room and a couple of dinners. The room had a washing machine for laundry (and a drying rack), which was perfect because we were there in the middle of our trip. There was no laundry detergent and I had forgotton it, so we had to buy some but it was about a dollar for a box and we left the extra in the room when we left. The location was great - just a few blocks to Old Town Square and all the attractions. It was just a couple of minutes walk to the main area, but enough removed that it was very quiet. It took us a little time to find the place originally because Prague\'s streets are so confusing. The people at the front desk were very helpful and arranged a free shuttle to the Holesovice train station at the end of our stay. Also, the free computer and internet were very useful. The computer was always free when we wanted to use it. I would highly recommend these apartments. It was the cheapest place we stayed and also the nicest.

San Francisco

As a solo woman traveler, I found Masna Residence to be a GREAT place to stay. It was one of the best decisions I\'ve made with regard to travel accomodations.

APARTMENT: I rented a studio for one week in November. My studio was very spacious with high ceilings and a HUGE bathroom. You could easily and comfortably fit two people in a studio - it had lots of open space. The thing I noticed immediately was that the place was immaculately clean, and housekeeping came every day. The apartment had a nice big flat screen TV, but it only showed Czech-language programs (although I don’t usually watch TV when I travel, I must admit that one night when I couldn’t sleep, it was a kick to watch “Gladiator” dubbed over in Czech). There was a clock on the microwave and on the TV, but there was no actual alarm clock by the bed, so you might want to bring your own. I figured out how to set up the alarm clock on the TV so that it would wake me up in time for my flight, but the office also provides wake-up calls (Note: the office is located two doors down on the same street, and they have someone there all the time to answer questions). The apartment had lots of great perks: a washing machine, a heated drying rack, microwave, stove, small fridge, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, and a safe. Floors were hard-wood, so I could hear the upstairs and downstairs neighbors (who seemed to be walking around in high heels) but most people were gone most of the time anyway so it was pretty quiet. Sometimes I could hear the elevator at night. If you’re a light sleeper, I would recommend an apartment on the 3rd floor or higher due to street noise and noise from entry way, but there’s not really that much noise overall. My floor was high up, and I slept very well.

NOTE ON BOOKING: If you book Masna Residence on their web site, be very careful when you go to reserve the apartment. I wasn\'t paying close attention, and I accidentally hit the wrong button and ended up paying for my entire stay in advance - five months before I took the trip. After a frantic email to Prague City Apartments (bless them for their patience!), they assured me that many people choose to pay in advance - and that if I canceled prior to my arrival date, I would receive a full refund. As it turned out, I had nothing to worry about - the staff was very helpful and very professional, and my entire stay went smoothly. And actually, it was kind of nice having paid for it in advance!

SHUTTLE SERVICE: One of the best things about Masna Residence is that it has a “shuttle service,” which is free if you stay there for a week or more - and it’s really cheap if you’re staying less than a week. It was wonderful having someone pick me up and take me to the airport with my heavy luggage. The shuttle driver was great, and pointed out landmarks as we arrived in Prague. I was really happy with this service.

LOCATION: The apartment was centrally located, just a couple of blocks from Old Town, and less than a 10 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. I felt totally safe walking around at night in the area by myself. There was a little restaurant/internet café called Bohemia Bagel (which saved my sanity on numerous occasions) conveniently located across the street. Also, two blocks over was Bake Shop, where I got croissants, coffee, sandwiches, and little packaged salads. Another two shorts blocks away was Au Gourmand, with the best chocolate croissants in the city. Right around the corner was a little mini-market with water, yogurt, fruits, and bread. There’s also a Tesco within walking distance – about a 15-20 minute walk.

Overall, I would say that this was a fabulous place to stay. I would highly recommend it, and I would most definitely stay there again.

Bolton

If you want peace and quiet, a fully furnished apartment in the most central location then this is the place to stay.
We booked this apartment as a change to staying in a hotel and what a delight.
Approx. 100 mts from the Old Town Square, in a quiet almost traffic free side street lies this place of solitude.
The apartment we stayed in was fully furnished with EVERYTHING you would need to live in Prague. This included fridge, microwave, kettle, oven. cutlery, even a washing machine.
The plasma TV and satellite system with 100s of channels was merely a bonus.
The serviced private entrance also gave it that touch of privacy.
A must for any traveller to Prague to try.

United States

After looking at various hotels while planning our trip to Prague, we decided to go with Residence Masna after a friend recommended it. It was a lot cheaper and bigger than many hotels with almost the same amenities. The only thing you don\'t get is breakfast. But on the same block is Bohemia Bagel which you can stop at for a quick bite on your way to site-seeing. There is also a cute little bar right next door to grab a quick relaxing drink before heading to bed. We booked a complementary airport pick up and as our flight was delayed I was worried we may be stranded at the airport. But the employees were on top of things and we were greeted by our driver after we got our luggage. Arriving late evening, after check-in we decided to wonder around a little before crashing to get rest for the next day. We wondered just two small blocks and found ourselves right in Old Town Square. What an overwhelming experience! It is absolutely beautiful! Masna is right in the middle of things which is great in case you have to stop back at your room during the day. The 24-hour receptionists were nothing but nice and very helpful. When we had to check-out on our last day, we were not scheduled to take the train out till that night. We were able to leave our luggage at the front desk with no problem and pick them up when we were ready to leave. They even made sure to ask if we needed a ride to the airport/train station. Overall, Masna is an absolutely great place to stay, very spacious, clean and you couldn\'t ask for a better location. I would definitely stay there again, and I plan on visiting Prague again in the future as it is one of the most beautiful cities!
