Dundas, Ontario, Canada Red Lion Hotel Prague was a wonderful historic hotel in a great location with great staff.
We arrived at 6.30 am from an overnight train. The front staff told us a room was already available, even though check in was later that day. We were exhausted and grateful. The room was beautiful, with antique furniture, a restored hand painted wood ceiling and lovely views of the historic street leading to the castle. The room was large. The bathroom was modern and the linens were excellent. Everything was spotless.
Although we were facing a busy road, most of it was pedestrian traffic walking to the castle. Everything was pretty quiet in the morning and evening. There were lots of cafes, restaurants and a small grocery store nearby. Walking to the Charles Bridge or Prague Castle took about 15 - 20 minutes.
The buffet breakfast was excellent, with cereal, meats cheese and fresh fruits, bread and pastry. Coffee and cappucino were there for the asking. You could also request a hot breakfast of eggs and bacon or sausage etc. WOW.
The combination of price, location, beautiful room, great service and lovely breakfast made this the best hotel of our 2 week stay in Europe.
