Prague, Czech Republic Hotels and Apartments

Just returned from our 4 nights stay at the Hotel Raffaello, very clean and fair price, but very dull staff, in fact we found the natives quite cold, and lack manners, Prague is so so beautiful, and had a wonderful time.
The public transport is fantastic, and great value. Taxis are a different matter, we were told by our tour operater the taxis SHOULD cost no more than 400, from the city to airport, got the hotel to order taxi, (we did know in advance that a taxi would cost 650) but when you have a early flight we had little or on choice.
We feel that the Hotel should ensure that their guests are not taken for a ride........, but they know that they dont have to try, as the city sells itself.
Got home to Dubin, (it was raining) but the bus driver to the long term carpark, was such fun, and had all the passengers in stitches, yes it nice to go travelling , but great to come home.

Newly refurbished 3 star hotel. spotlessly clean very good standard of rooms and good breakfast, reasonably priced. Only slight downside is it is probably the wrong side of wenceslas square by about 15 minutes by foot. However it is very near the pivovorsky dum (a pub/brewery) where 2 beers and 2 meals of beef and dumplings costs about £4.

Stayed here with daughter for three days, commencing 7th December, 2005. Friendly and helpful staff. Had requested they book a theatre ticket for me which they had done, at no extra charge. Bedroom was large and warm, and quiet, despite being on a busy road. Bathroom was super. Breakfast was more than adequate if not exciting. Great benefit was convenience of having metro stop about 50 metres down the road.
